"Wipe that dreamy smile off your face," Selene said coldly, shooting Leon a glare.

He didn’t mind her, his smile widening as he rubbed his lips. The morning had really started on a blissful note, and he wasn’t going to let some ice beauty’s words affect him.

"Hey, isn’t Boss glowing? Man, I wonder what happened," Miguel muttered, his eyes narrowed.

The others agreed with him, but no one said a thing in support.

’Alright, enough daydreaming.’

Leon took Selene’s advice and became serious. He turned toward the people accompanying him, studying them one by one.

Selene, Gwen, Reymond, Miguel, Fel, Cassie, and the one hundred and fifty Evolvers team that Marie had prepared for him.

"Is everyone ready?" He asked, his voice calm.

They all nodded, with the special team offering strict military salutes.

Leon returned their nods, then turned to the people being left behind.

Marie, Nora, Richard, Emily, Jones, and Nicolas. These were the people he was leaving in charge of the city until his return.

It was a bit sad for him to leave them behind, but it was necessary. Without them, the city wouldn’t operate properly.

"We’ll contact you and update you when required."

Marie smiled brightly and answered, "Alright, Boss. Don’t forget to bring us souvenirs."

Hearing this, Leon chuckled lightly. "Oh well, I’ll try my best."

He then turned to the little girl who was looking at him with teary eyes, and spread his arms.

"Princess."

Nora rushed forward immediately, throwing herself into his arms and crying softly.

Leon’s heart ached as he held her tightly. However, his decision was firm. He didn’t want to bring her along in a journey that was far more dangerous.

Other than mutated beasts and zombies, they might end up fighting humans too. And Leon wasn’t going to risk letting any of his weaknesses get exploited.

After a few minutes of consoling her with sweet and reassuring words, he handed her to her mother, then turned his back to them.

"Move out."

......

A convoy of six modified buses tore through the streets of Marine Park, driving through the ghost town at a moderate pace.

The lead bus was completely silent, with no one uttering a word.

Leon glanced outside, looking at the ruined view of the town. He was reminded of Agnus’s group that had left several days ago, and he wondered if they would meet again in the future.

’Why is she renting my shoulder, though?’ He thought, glancing to the side.

Gwen was fast asleep, her head resting on his shoulder for comfort. It wasn’t unintentional, as she had done that before sleeping.

’Oh well, I guess she must be tired from all the paperwork too. She rarely went out to hunt, after all.’

He closed his eyes and pulled the curtain forward, stopping the sunlight from spilling inside.

Fortunately, the convoy was only attacked a few times by mutated beasts, and they weren’t that strong. The Evolvers with ranged abilities responded immediately, erasing any beast before it could cause significant damage to the buses.

In a few hours, they arrived at the Lower New York Bay, finally able to see the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge right ahead of them.

The buses parked temporarily, and everyone came down from the vehicles.

Leon inhaled the fresh scent of flowing water, his gaze fixed on the bridge. The others stood beside him, all staring at the bridge.

Thankfully, it was intact, and they wouldn’t have to think about finding another route.

The only problem was that it was packed with hundreds of abandoned cars, and they could already see zombies moving aimlessly on the bridge.

"Am I the only one who feels nostalgic? This place reminds me of Williamsburg Bridge," Reymond remarked with a wistful smile on his face.

Selene nodded in agreement. "Let’s just hope the journey is as easy as that one."

Reymond’s smile faltered, and he looked around warily. "Well, what’s the worst that could—hm!"

Gwen clamped his mouth shut, not letting him complete the statement.

"Don’t jinx it, idiot!" She pouted, shooting him a glare.

Leon ignored their antics and turned to the people behind him.

Selene quietly turned with him and asked, "Aren’t you going to name them?"

Leon blinked. "Naming them, huh...?"

He took out his spear from the storage ring and looked at it.

"Titanbreaker Legion."

He said loudly, his voice clear.

"""""""

Leon raised his head and looked at the one hundred and fifty Evolvers before him.

"From this day onward, you are no longer just another group of Evolvers."

His voice was calm, yet every word carried clearly across the convoy.

"You are the Titanbreaker Legion," He paused, letting the name sink in. "Among the countless Evolvers in this world, you were chosen because you possess something greater. Strength. Talent. Discipline. And most importantly, loyalty."

His gaze swept across them, met with determination and firmness.

"You are my elites. The people I will entrust with the battles others cannot fight."

His grip tightened around his spear.

"So hold your heads high and be proud of what you are."

A faint smile appeared on his face. "You are the sharpest blade of the Eternal Night City. And one day, when people across this world hear the name Titanbreaker Legion..."

His eyes gleamed.

"I want them to know that they are looking at the strongest legion on Earth. Now—prove that you deserve the name."

The one hundred and fifty Evolvers simultaneously struck their breastplates with their fists.

THUD!

The synchronized sound echoed across the silent area.

"YES, COMMANDER!"

Leon nodded, satisfied. This was the beginning of the dream he’d had ever since acquiring the Extraction ability.

He wanted an elite team that would grow stronger using the abilities he extracted from their fallen enemies. The thought alone filled him with confidence and pride.

’Ah, world domination does sound a bit cool, for real...’

Soon, they all got back into the buses and drove towards the bridge. Some Evolvers remained outside with Miguel, clearing the path and killing zombies as they advanced.

Unsurprisingly, their pace slowed since the bridge had too many cars on it. Besides, there were also several risks accompanying their journey across the bridge.

After moving for about a hundred meters, the sky darkened slightly as a flock of mutated seagulls appeared and attacked, releasing shrill cries.

The group remained unfazed, with Gwen and the Titanbreaker Evolvers with ranged abilities counterattacking the birds. Thankfully, the mutated beasts were weak and died like flies.

However, the noise they created was annoying, and it ended up pulling waves of zombies towards them.

After a moment of thought, Leon sent almost all the Evolvers in the Titanbreaker Legion out, letting them kill the zombies and clear the way. Although their journey was further slowed, Leon didn’t mind.

As long as nothing too dangerous appeared, he was fine with it.

Besides, this was a chance for the warriors to gain experience fighting a horde of zombies or mutated beasts.

By noon, the entire bridge had been cleared. The Titanbreaker Legion had spent hours removing abandoned vehicles, eliminating zombies, and dealing with the occasional mutated beast that emerged from the wreckage.

It was tiring work, but there were no casualties.

Finally, the last bus rolled across the bridge, carrying them away from Brooklyn and onto a different location.

Staten Island.
