Leon was emotionally exhausted. Over the past few days, he had been through a roller coaster of emotions that made him go numb.

He kicked a truck out of his way, stepping over it as he switched to moving across the rooftops. Selene joined him, her steps light and fast.

"Wait. I think I can hear her." Selene suddenly paused, causing him to stop.

"Where?" Leon looked at her.

She pointed at the building they were standing on. "Someone’s shallow breathing. I can hear it."

Even before she finished speaking, Leon already went over to the edge of the building, swinging in through the window.

He crashed through the glass, landing in an empty room with dry bloodstains on the wall.

Leon’s expression turned sharp, his eyes narrowing.

He turned to Selene, who was looking at him with an equally grim expression.

"I see..." He said slowly. "Can you take me there? I want to see it."

If it was something he could kill, then he wouldn’t waste time killing it. Besides, he had the assistance of Selene too.

If things got ugly, they could simply pull back and retreat.

Cassie’s blue eyes widened, and she stared at him in shock.

"You... want to see it?"

Leon nodded, his expression dark. "Do you think I can kill it?"

She shook her head without hesitation.

Leon blinked in surprise, then nodded. "I still want to know what it is, though. Can you take me there?"

Cassie glanced at Selene, and seeing the determination in her eyes, she nodded slowly.

"Alright. But Leon... please."

He tilted his head. "Hm?"

"Only look. Don’t try to kill it."

The feeling of unease in his heart intensified, but so did his curiosity about what she had seen.

"Alright, I promise."

He could tell that Cassie was deeply serious. After all, she had called him by his name.

With a shaky sigh, Cassie let go of him and stood on her own. Her lips pressed into a thin line, and she said, "This way."

Leon and Selene followed behind her without saying a word.

They moved from rooftop to rooftop, gradually approaching the center of the island.

Her voice was unusually weak and full of vulnerability. Still, he could hear the determination and stubbornness in her voice.
