World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 245: Bliss MorganThe moment the double doors opened, Bliss’s gaze snapped straight to the people entering. The first person she noticed was Mark, captain of the camp’s smallest squad and one of its most loyal soldiers.
The moment she saw him, she knew something had changed. His shoulders were relaxed, and he carried a happy smile on his face.
Her gaze moved to the young lady standing beside him, and she immediately connected the dots.
’So this is his daughter? She’s beautiful and... dangerous.’
Bliss noted, her gaze sliding to the shiny daggers hung at Cassie’s waist. She turned away and looked at the others.
Seeing Selene, she paused for a moment, struck by her beauty. However, she quickly recovered, immediately labeling her as another dangerous entity.
Selene carried herself with grace and aloofness, making her seem extremely distant and unapproachable.
Beside her walked Gwen. The young lady carried a soft, heartwarming smile that almost made Bliss relax. She didn’t fall for it, though.
’However, I don’t think she’s a bad person.’
Finally, her gaze landed on the only other male in the group—the one who walked in the front.
Leon’s posture was relaxed, and he looked around curiously. His eyes landed on her briefly, and Bliss involuntarily stiffened under his scrutinizing gaze.
He merely looked at her for a few seconds before turning to Arnold beside her.
’Is he—no. He’s definitely the leader.’
"Good morning, Leader Bliss."
Mark’s polite greeting pulled her out of her thoughts, and she offered him a curt smile.
"Good morning, Captain Mark. Please take your seats."
The middle-aged man nodded and pulled a chair back before sitting on it. Leon and the others took their seats beside him, their attention on Bliss and Arnold.
"I heard you found your daughter by coincidence today. I’m truly happy for you."
Bliss spoke with a smile, her gaze shifting from Mark to Cassie.
The man nodded, glancing at his daughter. "Thank you, Leader."
Bliss’s smile receded slightly, and she looked at Leon.
"Cassie’s friends, right? Please introduce yourselves. I’m Bliss Morgan, by the way."
Beside her, Arnold added, "Arnold Schwarz."
Leon blinked once, surprised by the man’s last name. He was tempted to laugh, but politely held back.
"Nice meeting you, Bliss. I’m Leonel Wayne, but you can call me Leon."
He gestured at the two ladies seated beside him.
"This is Selene White, and that is Gwen Thompson. I don’t think I need to introduce Cassie anymore."
Bliss nodded, then froze. "Thompson?"
She turned to look at Gwen again, realizing her face looked a little familiar.
"It can’t be you, right? The Thompson Princess?" She asked in surprise.
Gwen raised a hand and waved politely. "It seems you recognize me. You once attended my birthday banquet, right? I think I remember you now."
Bliss stared in shock, as she had never thought she would meet such a prominent figure in this manner. They had met several years ago as children and their encounter had been brief.
However, neither of them really forgot one another. It just took a while to remember.
"It’s a pleasure meeting you again," She said, respect in her voice.
Gwen smiled too and said, "It’s great seeing you again too, Miss Morgan. Your parents...?"
Bliss’s expression darkened and she shook her head. "They were overseas when the chaos started. I haven’t gotten in contact with them."
"Oh, I see..." Gwen’s expression softened. "I hope they’re fine."
Bliss nodded without saying a thing. The conversation ended there.
Then, she turned to Leon.
"I’ll go straight to the point so as not to waste our time. I was wondering what you’re doing in Bayonne? As far as I know, your group hasn’t been here until today."
Leon smiled thinly and corrected her. "Until last night, yes. As for why we’re here, we’re heading to Newark, so it’s only natural that we pass through this place."
Receiving this answer, Bliss visibly relaxed. However, another question sprang up in her mind.
"You said you’re going to Newark, right? Does that mean you intend to join them?"
She was also aware of the government camp in Newark, and had considered going there a few times. However, that option was something she had stopped considering after a while.
There was a reason she asked this question.
’If I can recruit them, the defense here would be tighter and we can finally find a way to help Mark restrain his mother.’
Leon scrutinized her for a few seconds, then answered tentatively, "No, we’re not going there to join them. We’re only on a search to find some people."
’To find people...?’ Bliss’s brows furrowed. ’So they aren’t just trying to join another camp? What a shame.’
"I see. Does that mean you have your own camp somewhere?" She asked, trying to sound casual.
This was an important detail she wanted to know. If they already had an established camp, then it meant her hopes would be crushed.
Instead of answering immediately, Leon glanced at Gwen.
The young lady caught his gaze, smiled, and answered, "Yes. We have a camp back in Brooklyn."
"Brooklyn? That’s far," Arnold muttered, his gaze calculating.
Bliss was also surprised and disappointed. However, she didn’t let it show on her expression.
"Is that so...? Id like to wish you a safe journey, but I don’t think I can say that."
Leon nodded with a serious expression. "Mark told us about the situation in Jersey City. But it’s our only route so we have no choice."
Sensing the firmness in his tone, Bliss knew she couldn’t convince him otherwise, so she didn’t even bother.
"I guess you’ll be staying for a while, right? I’ll arrange temporary accommodation for your men in the meantime."
"I appreciate that," Leon said with a grateful smile and a thumbs-up.
Finally, Mark found the timing right and spoke.
"Leader Bliss, about my mother. Leon and his friends have agreed to assist us in subduing her. I’m confident that with us all contributing, we will be able to successfully restrain her."
Bliss’s eyes widened slightly, and she unconsciously blurted, "Them? Can they really contribute?"
