Bliss used two of the crystals she had received from Leon, keeping the last one for emergency cases. She wasn’t as rich as Leon, so she couldn’t afford to use nine slots.

’Nine...’

She closed her eyes and stepped back, choosing to stop thinking about it. She handed the scrolls to Arnold for safekeeping before they all returned to the meeting hall.

Now, her gaze toward Leon’s group carried far more seriousness, and she began to genuinely treat them as equals.

"When do you suggest we go on that mission? I wouldn’t want to take much of your time since it seems you’re in a hurry to reach Newark."

Her voice was calm, spreading evenly across the hall.

"Well..." Leon tapped the table with a finger. "Since we’re indeed rushing, I’d like to make it tomorrow."

Bliss didn’t expect him to want to do it that fast, but she wasn’t against the timing. It would also be helping her to remove a threat which was endangering the lives of her people.

Still, there was something that deeply confused her, and she had been itching to ask.

"Mark, how do you plan to restrain your mother? I hope you know we can’t just tie her up with ropes."

Just like Leon, she believed a cure for zombie infection could be created. However, she didn’t think it would be available anytime soon. Perhaps when the country had stabilized and the government could conduct proper research.

This made her wonder how Mark was going to keep the zombie, and for how long.

Mark’s expression was serious as he answered, "When the apocalypse started, my first kill got me a sealing scroll. It’s said to be able to seal any living creature in a dormant state for up to a year. I haven’t found any other sealing scroll since then, which is why I hid information about it. I hope you understand my reason, Leader Bliss."

The young woman nodded, not feeling offended. "That sealing scroll. Are you sure it can seal a Tier Two creature?"

Mark hesitated, then nodded resolutely. "Yes, I believe it can seal her."

Bliss’s eyes narrowed, but she didn’t say anything against that.

If it came down to it, then they would have to kill the woman.

Sad, but unavoidable. Mark understood this too.

Ready to end the meeting, Bliss turned back to Leon. "I’ll have the accommodation arranged for your men. Thank you for the support."

The young man nodded and stood up. The others followed suit.

Leon smiled at Bliss and her assistant and said, "See you tomorrow, then. Come prepared."

Bliss nodded and watched them leave. Once the hall was empty again, she asked, "What do you think about them?"

"Potentially dangerous and backed by a stronger person," Arnold answered. "Either Leon isn’t the true leader of their camp—which would mean someone gave him those crystals—or he’s absurdly strong."

Bliss’s eyes narrowed. "Like that man?"

Arnold nodded. "Highly likely. We will get to see tomorrow, though."

"Alright, then. We should continue with our work for the day."

......

Meanwhile, Leon and the others returned to Mark’s house where a lavish feast had already been prepared. As a captain, Mark had access to luxury food that ordinary people couldn’t get easily, so he could afford to make such a welcoming party.

Everyone sat around the table—Mark’s family and team, Leon’s group, and Mark himself at the head of the table with Cassie.

Before they began to eat, he stood up and raised a cup of wine.

"This... is for the celebration of the return of my daughter. Cheers to Cassie!"

Everyone cheered, raising their cups before drinking. Even Selene raised her cup, though she didn’t cheer with them.

’Humanity is really amazing. Even in such a condition, we can still celebrate,’ Leon thought with an absentminded smile as he took small sips from the wine.

Beside him, Miguel ate with as much restraint as he could muster, not wanting to look weird before Cassie’s family and other strangers.

On his other side, Fel ate quietly. She had barely spoken since they arrived, and Leon could tell she was thinking about her family too.

’Even if her father was imprisoned, she still loves him,’ He thought. ’I can only hope he’s alive and would find her someday.’

Across from him, Gwen and Reymond conversed in low voices.

"Am I the only one who thinks Selene has something on her mind lately?" He asked, glancing at the woman he loved.

Gwen nodded slightly, her gaze lingering on Selene’s expression.

"I noticed too, but I haven’t been able to ask. What do you think it is?"

Reymond shrugged. "I don’t know but... could it be related to that guy?"

Gwen’s brows furrowed. "Who?"

Smirking, he clarified. "Your crush, of course."

Gwen blushed, but before she could say anything, he continued in a serious tone.

"I don’t know if it’s me... but they seem to be closer than usual. And Selene also seems more relaxed around him now. It wasn’t like when we were at the university."

Gwen noticed the troubled expression on his face and could immediately guess his line of thoughts.

Smiling faintly, she patted his back. "You don’t have to worry too much, Rey. If Selene makes another friend, you should be happy for her. Also, I don’t think that ice block can ever fall for anyone so..."

She paused, then covered her mouth.

Reymond smiled bitterly. "You don’t need to react like that. I know I’ll probably never be able to be with her. But if she falls for someone else... I don’t know what I would feel."

Gwen fell silent, unable to form a reply or a consolation. She couldn’t immediately understand, so she tried experimenting on herself.

What if Leon one day found another woman and fell in love with her instead? How would she feel?

Gwen couldn’t find a clear answer other than an uncomfortable knot in her heart. It annoyed her, and there was little she could do about it. She couldn’t force herself on him, and neither could Reymond force himself on Selene.

Still, she remained enthusiastic. "If it’s meant to be, it will be, alright? Let’s leave it to fate."
