Cassie sneaked past the elite zombie guards, heading towards the center of the market where the queen of the horde—her own grandmother—was hidden.

Suddenly, she paused, seeing a lone zombie standing before an abandoned shop. It looked anything but normal.

Long, sharp fins protruded from its arms like blades, and it had a bored look in its eyes. Its skin wasn’t rough like the other zombies, but smooth like the skin of a baby.

The moment Cassie laid her eyes on it, it turned to her immediately. Despite being invisible, it had actually been able to sense her.

Its lips split into a wide grin before it immediately lunged at her.

Cassie hurriedly unsheathed her daggers and deactivated the invisibility ability.

It was the same ability Leon had obtained from the Tier Two Mantis. Once she came in contact with any external object, it would automatically deactivate, so she didn’t bother letting the zombie reach her before she deactivated it.

The zombie’s eyes lit up as it saw her, and it brought its sharp blades down on her.

Clang!

Cassie blocked and slid back from the impact, feeling her arms stiffen slightly. Surprise flashed in her eyes, and she looked at it with far more seriousness.

After that clash, she had confirmed that it wasn’t a weak Tier One zombie. It was at the peak of the rank, definitely Level 50.

’You’re in my way. Die.’

She stomped on the ground and shot forward, crossing the distance between them in mere moments. One dagger struck at its head while the other slashed towards its waist.

Unfazed, the zombie responded by biting her dagger and stopping it in place. It blocked the other dagger with one hand, then stabbed at her stomach with its other hand.

Alarmed, Cassie tried to pull back, but its jaw clenched hard on her dagger, not letting go.

Just before the dagger could reach her, something swept past the zombie’s neck, forcing it to abandon the attack and retreat.

Cassie breathed a sigh of relief and turned to look at Leon.

He looked at the zombie with a dark gaze, then asked, "Can you handle it?"

She nodded firmly. "It’s stronger than I expected. I’ll be careful now."

Leon turned away from her and glanced at the others.

"Leave the zombie to Cassie. We’re heading to the leader."

After finishing off the two annoying zombies, Selene assisted Bliss in decimating the Corpse-Armored zombie.

The skinny zombie could barely put up resistance against Leon for half a minute before it was killed.

With four of the five elite guards dead, the Zombie Queen had no choice but to make an appearance.

The Evolvers’ eyes narrowed as soon as she stepped out. The Zombie Queen didn’t look like a zombie at all.

Her skin was fresh and smooth, with slight wrinkles and a light smile on her face. She looked at them warmly like a neighborhood grandma, but none of them relaxed at the sight.

It felt like they were looking at a sheathed blade covered by fine linen. No one dared to underestimate her.

’Is this what they call hidden dragon and crouching tiger?’

Leon would have loved to chuckle, but he wasn’t in the mood.

"Cassie, the last guard," Leon said as he took a step forward. "The others, follow me."

The moment his voice dropped, he shot towards the zombie, thrusting his spear at her throat. The last elite zombie grinned and tried to intercept him, but was blocked by Cassie.

Unimpeded, Leon flew straight at the Zombie Queen. She smiled warmly, then raised her hands.

Bam!

She grabbed the spear mid-thrust, stopping it in its tracks. Leon’s eyes narrowed, and he pushed forward with all his strength.

The zombie didn’t even budge. She just kept smiling in an unnerving way. Selene arrived a heartbeat later, blade swinging for the zombie’s head.

The Zombie Queen glanced at her and stepped back, releasing Leon’s spear. He tried pressing it forward to deal damage, but the woman was simply faster.

The spear and Selene’s blade caught nothing but air.

Bliss stopped beside them, shaking her head with a wry smile. "That woman is not only fast. She’s... disturbingly unkillable too."

Leon turned to her silently, the question in his eyes.

"She can transfer damage to her subordinates. A nasty recovery ability that keeps her at peak condition. We have to find a way to crack that," Bliss explained.

Leon nodded faintly, then dashed forward again. Bliss and Selene flanked him from the side, aiming to corner and pin her down.

The Zombie Queen spread her arms, extending her claws as she struck at them from a distance.

The three humans paused, forced to deal with the tangible claw marks that appeared midair and swept towards them.

Clang! Clang! Clang!

None had difficulty blocking the attacks, but were still surprised by the strength behind the claws. That didn’t make them hesitate.

They immediately moved on to attack her again.

Selene thrust her sword, and ice bloomed beneath the zombie’s feet. Her legs were immediately frozen in place, and she was rendered immobile for a short time.

Bliss stomped on the ground, shooting forward faster than anyone and arriving in front of the zombie almost instantly.

Her battle-axe came crashing down on the zombie’s crossed arms in a brutal swing.

BANG!

A ball of compressed air exploded from the impact as the ground beneath them shattered. Shards of ice exploded outwards, forcing Bliss to close her eyes.

She tried to use gravity and weight to press her advantage, but the zombie retreated faster than she could react.

Bang!

Bliss’s battle-axe slammed into the ground, and she stumbled before balancing herself.

Leon stopped behind her, stepping into her shadow and appearing from the shadow of the Zombie Queen.

A surprised expression appeared on the zombie’s face, but she could barely react before his spear struck her back.

A nasty wound was torn open, and black blood splattered across the ground.

Leon didn’t stop there. Tying her limbs with shadow binds, he pulled back and struck at her head.

"Leon! We’re not trying to kill!" Selene hastily shouted to him.

At the last moment, Leon’s spear shifted, piercing her heart instead. The Zombie Queen threw her head back, then released a guttural, ear-numbing scream.

"Eeeeeaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!!!"
