World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 254: A Foreign FeelingAt the sound of the scream, every living creature within a hundred-meter radius of the Zombie Queen froze without exception.
She immediately wrenched herself free from Leon’s spear, her flesh knitting together in a desperate attempt to heal.
A few seconds later, everyone regained mobility and looked at her with a stunned expression.
"What happened?" Selene asked as she rushed to Leon’s side, staring at the zombie warily. "It hasn’t used that ability Bliss talked about."
"The ability has a limited range," He explained. "With Cassie pulling the last zombie guard away from her, she can’t use it. That’s why she panicked."
"Panicked?" Bliss repeated, surprised.
Leon nodded. "Tier Two zombies have a high level of intelligence and can even feel pain to an extent. Knowing that her trump card is gone, she’s panicking."
They all stared at the Zombie Queen who now hunched her back, staring at them warily.
"Defeating her will be difficult," Leon suddenly said.
Wiping her sword clean, Selene nodded. "She’s fast. And we’re not trying to kill her. Remember that."
Leon nodded casually. "I’ll try to remember that."
Before she could say anything else, he stepped into her shadow and reappeared beside the zombie.
She instantly turned to face him, her claws already in motion. Leon held the spear with his left hand, forcefully pressing the shaft against her wrists while he threw a straight punch to her head.
Bam!
The blow landed cleanly, and her head jerked backwards. The Zombie Queen staggered away from him, her lips curling as she snarled.
Leon immediately stepped towards her. From behind, Selene appeared like the silent breeze on a cold night, her sword aimed to cut off the zombie’s arm.
At the last moment, she twisted her shoulder, letting the blade peel off a layer of skin before sliding past her.
However, she failed to dodge another punch from Leon that struck her squarely in the face.
Bliss winced at the sight. ’He really isn’t pulling any punches.’
She also joined in the fray, swinging her battle-axe in hopes of cutting off one or two limbs.
Some distance away, Cassie blocked every attempt the last elite zombie made to reach its queen. Knowing that this was a serious enemy, she had abandoned her daggers and used a red sword instead—one of the impressive equipment they had gotten from the Bronze Equipment Star Wheel before leaving Williamsburg.
Still, despite using the sword, her body was already covered in several injuries from the sharp blade-like fins of the zombie.
She wasn’t the only one who had suffered, though.
Faced with an unhinged human willing to endure minor injuries just to land heavier blows on her enemy, the Tier One Elite Zombie was no longer as beautiful as it had been.
Its smooth skin was torn in several places, and it could no longer maintain that sadistic grin.
"You’ll die fighting me," Cassie said as she spat blood on the ground and attacked again.
Meanwhile, Leon, Bliss, and Selene continued pressuring the Zombie Queen. Alone, they might not have been able to keep up with her, but combined, they were able to force her into a defensive mode.
Boom!
Bliss’s battle-axe was blocked by the zombie’s knee, which was unusually sturdy for a joint. Before the zombie could pull back, Selene’s sword pierced into her thigh, causing ice to spread over the wound.
Her eyes narrowed at the sight, and she noticed something. ’She can harden a portion of her body at will. She’s intentionally protecting her joints. So she figured out our plan?’
The zombie pulled away and turned just in time to catch Leon’s punch. He had stopped using his spear to attack, merely using it for defense since he didn’t want to kill the zombie by accident.
His emotions were currently messy, and he couldn’t guarantee that he wouldn’t make a mistake.
Seeing as she caught his blow, he casually disarmed himself and used his free hand to punch her in the face.
Bam!
The zombie was knocked back, and her yellow eyes glared at him indignantly.
Leon easily caught his falling weapon and slashed at her shoulder. She pulled back, narrowly avoiding having her arm severed.
Suddenly, she noticed something moving on her leg and turned to look. Before she could react, the ice clinging to her limb suddenly thickened and became spikes that skewered her thigh.
The zombie grunted in pain and tried to retreat, but Bliss was already there. She swung her battle-axe at the zombie’s head, forcing the Zombie Queen backward—straight into Leon’s fist.
Bam!
Black blood poured from her nose, and everyone could hear the bone cracking. Bliss winced while Selene looked unbothered.
The burly young woman sighed and thought, ’Good thing Mark isn’t here yet. He might have attacked Leon already.’
Leon raised a leg and dropped a sharp kick on her shoulder, cracking the bones and forcing the zombie to her knees.
Selene moved in with quiet grace, her blade carving a deep wound onto the injured shoulder. Although the Zombie Queen’s regeneration speed was high, she couldn’t immediately recover from the three consecutive blows.
Leon didn’t pause, throwing another hooking punch at her temple. She wanted to block, but was forced to pay more attention to Bliss’s battle-axe heading towards her.
Besides, Leon’s punch couldn’t be as harmful as a battle-axe... right?
Bam!
The punch landed cleanly, and the zombie felt her brain shake. Blood poured from her left ear, and she almost collapsed to the ground.
Her vision blurred, and her yellow eyes darted around in hopes of getting a clear image from her surroundings.
She tried to scream again, but Leon’s palm snapped across her mouth, cutting the scream short.
"Selene, now."
The silver-haired lady appeared behind the kneeling zombie and placed a hand on her back.
"Freeze."
From the point of contact, thick transparent ice tinged with a hint of blue spread out and rapidly encased the dazed zombie. She tried to resist, but Leon delivered another punch that rattled her skull.
"Why are you being so cruel?" Selene asked with a frown.
Leon’s temperament against the zombie was unlike anything she was used to. It felt like he had a personal vendetta.
"I detest zombies," He answered with a scowl on his lips, then froze. "Do I?"
