Leon frowned in confusion, wondering why he made that statement. However, the thought didn’t last long in his mind. He dismissed it casually and said to the two ladies.

"Hold her down. I’m coming."

Before they could say anything, he was enveloped in a flash of light and vanished. His first stop was behind the elite zombie Cassie was fighting, and he instantly tore its head off.

Without pausing, he vanished again and reappeared before Mark, helping him clear his surroundings with shadow spears.

"The seal?" He asked.

The middle-aged man was startled, but immediately responded by taking out a blood-red scroll from his waist pouch.

"Here it is. Is it done?"

Leon didn’t answer him, merely vanishing immediately and reappearing before Selene and Bliss.

The burly lady pinned the Zombie Queen to the ground with her weight, her muscles straining as the zombie struggled to get up. Behind her, Selene continuously reinforced the ice encasement restricting the zombie.

After checking the details of the scroll and how it was to be used, Leon tore it open and dropped it on the struggling zombie.

"Pull back."

Bliss immediately released her and stepped back, while Selene also retreated slightly.

An ominous red light enveloped the Zombie Queen, and she suddenly stopped resisting. Slowly, her body lowered to the ground, and it felt like she had fallen asleep.

Bliss sighed in relief. "Done?"

Leon nodded and turned around. "Let Mark handle her. Our work here is done."

With the Zombie Queen sealed, the horde lost the force controlling them and scattered. The Titanbreaker Legion and Bayonne warriors didn’t let them go, though.

They hunted every remaining zombie, using them as fuel to grow stronger while ensuring they wouldn’t be problems for the camp in the future.

In the end, a few zombies managed to escape, but their numbers were few and insignificant.

Leon gathered the members of the Titanbreaker Legion and nodded after realizing that no one fell in battle.

"Good."

That simple compliment immediately threw them into an uproar, and they cheered loudly.

Leon wanted to smile, but he couldn’t. So, he turned around and looked at the rewards scattered across the battlefield.

There were several scrolls and treasure cubes, including rare items like Ability Upgrade Cards or Trait Upgrade Cards.

Leon’s eyes glinted, but he wasn’t greedy. Being powerful alone wasn’t going to solve all his problems.

He picked up a Basic Ability Upgrade Card from the ground and looked at Selene.

"Do you have a use for it?"

She stared at the card, then reviewed her abilities. "Hm, I’ll have it. Thanks."

She collected the card and immediately used it. Leon nodded and turned to his warriors.

"Start packing the loot. Leave the other side to them."

He glanced at Arnold who gave him a nod of respect and also ordered his men to start the harvesting.

Despite being allies who had fought on the same battlefield, they weren’t close enough to sacrifice their rewards for each other.

Still, they could agree on sharing the loot since both parties fought on different sides of the battlefield.

’Our side is larger, though. I guess my vision for this legion is being realized slowly.’

Leon nodded to himself and raised his head to look at the sky. The weak mutated crows were still flying in the air, waiting for the humans to leave before they could swoop down and feast on the corpses.

’The weather looks gloomy. Is it going to rain?’

.........

A few hours later, rain fell over Bayonne, heavier than it had been in a long while. It was as if the heavens wanted to wash away the blood that had been spilled on the ground today, erasing the signs of battle.

At the same time, it allowed those who had lost comrades and friends in the battle to mourn without being heard.

Leon stood by the window of his room, staring at the blurry landscape outside with tears streaming from his eyes.

His sadness still had no source, but it wasn’t as overwhelming as it had been in the morning.

He sensed someone approaching him from behind and turned his head. It was Gwen.

Seeing his tear-streaked face that looked too calm, she bit her lip and stood beside him. "You still don’t know why?"

Leon shook his head in a daze.

Gwen sighed and hugged him from behind. "It’ll be fine, alright? There are several things that should make you happy. Remember them."

Leon blinked and did as she told. In less than a minute, the tears stopped flowing, and he could feel his mood improving.

Like a seal had been lifted off him, he felt liberated and gasped.

"Ah... it deactivated?" He mumbled to himself and checked his status window.

He confirmed his guess after seeing his mana stats drop from 509 to the original 424. The Song of Sorrow trait had indeed been deactivated.

"Thank you," He said to Gwen as she released him and stepped back.

"I’m glad you’re doing better now." She smiled and nodded.

Leon covered his face with both hands and collapsed onto the bed.

"Apparently, it’s a trait I suddenly gained, and its main effect on me is making me extremely sad." He paused before adding, "And a 20% boost to my mana stats."

"20%?" Gwen asked in surprise. "That’s a lot but making you sad is even worse..."

Leon shook his head. "Perhaps, perhaps not. I feel like some things can only be processed clearly when you’ve experienced a level of grief."

Gwen stared at him silently, thought about it for a moment, then nodded. "I guess you’re right. And that, in and of itself, is sad."

Leon chuckled and sat up. "Let’s drop that topic for now. I don’t want to accidentally trigger the trait again."

Taking off his t-shirt, he turned to look at her. "Since we are free right now, let’s do it early."

Gwen innocently licked her lips and nodded. She sat beside him and placed her hands over his heart, activating her ability again. Although she had fought a battle only hours ago, she wasn’t particularly exhausted and had already recovered all her mana.

A little over ten minutes later, she stopped and pulled away.

"That’s all for today," She said, smiling professionally. "Don’t forget to come tomorrow to take your daily medication."

Leon laughed lightly and sent her off with his eyes. His smile dimmed slightly but still remained as he lay back on the bed and closed his eyes. The rain was still falling outside, and it seemed to be a perfect time to take a nap.

Just as his consciousness began to slip away, he heard a voice speak to him.

"Little Leon, haven’t you grown bold? You’re now seducing little girls with your torso, hm~?"
