Leon’s eyes snapped open instantly, all signs of sleep vanishing from his expression. He looked around but saw nothing.
Frowning, he scratched his head. ’Am I tripping right now? I’m even hallucinating about her? Damn...’
"Over here, idiot~"
Hearing the voice again, he froze. Like a robot that had been abandoned underground for years, he stiffly turned his head to look at the source of the sound.
The sight made him freeze all over.
Thyra stood by the window, leaning against the windowsill with her legs crossed and her arms folded beneath her bosom.
As usual, she had a soft, teasing smile on her face, but her purple eyes carried a subtle hint of tenderness and eagerness.
"You..."
Leon tried to speak, but no words came.
Smiling wider, Thyra asked, "Ah~? Cat got your tongue? Haven’t seen a beautiful big sister like me?"
Hearing that, Leon finally managed to release a broken laugh. "You’re still shameless."
Thyra smiled at his words and uncrossed her arms. Only then did Leon notice that something was wrong. Light was passing through her body, which was clearly unusual.
"You’re not fully healed...?"
She nodded, her smile turning wry. "The Star Stream is really brutal—leaving me in such a miserable state. If not for that girl..."
Leon blinked, realizing his assumption was right. Thyra had indeed broken a rule by saving him and Selene which was exactly the reason why she had been punished.
"At least you didn’t die..." He forced out the words with a smile, his gaze unable to leave her face. "If you aren’t fully healed... why are you here now? Wouldn’t it be better to wait for a while longer? You don’t... seem to be comfortable like this."
Thyra turned to him, her smile gone. "If you knew your sister was downstairs, would you not go meet her because you’re feeling sleepy?"
"Huh? Of course, I’d go meet her right away," Leon answered immediately, still wondering why she asked.
Thyra’s charming smile returned and she said, "That’s your answer. I wanted to see you."
"You... did?" He asked in a daze, feeling a part of him racing slightly.
"What do you think?" She smirked. "Big Sister was a bit impatient. Are you uhappy and want to punish me?"
Leon deadpanned, then shook his head with a soft smile. "No, I’m happy that you’re impatient. At least it says I’m not the only one who feels that way."
Thyra blinked, surprised. "Feel what way?"
Looking into her purple eyes, he answered, "You know... just like I told Gwen, sadness makes you notice little things quite easily."
Her eyes narrowed as she suppressed her anxiety. "What things, Leon? Stop speaking in riddles."
"Am I?" He chuckled. "I can see it in your eyes, Thyra. You can deny it, but I can see it. Love. Wonderful, isn’t it? I feel the same."
The seductive woman fell silent, an unreadable expression on her face. She stared at him intensely, then sighed.
"Haa... that’s a new kind of confession, isn’t it? You aren’t as flustered as you used to be."
Leon rubbed the back of his neck. "I guess? I’ve matured a lot, lately—I think."
"Matured? I’m not sure you can handle some things, but..." Thyra smiled. "Be at ease, will you? I can smell your anxiety from here."
Leon responded smoothly. "I can say the same about you."
Thyra’s lips parted to retort, but she ended up closing them. Covering her eyes with the back of her hand, she groaned.
"Ugh, goodness... I wasn’t taught how to deal with this." She lowered her hand and glared at Leon indignantly. "You better be prepared to take responsibility when next I’m out. See you later~"
Before Leon could react, her figure faded and became a ball of light that vanished into his body.
Once she was gone, Leon released a sigh and collapsed onto the bed, grinning widely.
"I really... I really did it. I somehow said it. Damn..."
His heart thumped against his ribcage like it wanted to escape, but it soon calmed and fell back into its usual rhythm.
’And what would have been the best? She actually feels the same—a little embarrassed, even.’
He knew she had intentionally run away to avoid facing him immediately after the confession, and he wasn’t displeased about it. As a newbie in the matters of the heart, he had no idea how to deal with the situation too.
Besides, her current condition made him reconsider a few things. It was better to wait until she could fully recover.
’I have to thank Gwen properly. But how...’
A conflicted feeling rose in his heart as he thought about that charming, innocent lady who was in love with him.
’I’m sorry, Gwen. I’ll make it up to you somehow. I promise.’
With that, he pushed the thought to the back of his mind and allowed his grin to return.
’Well, that’s one good news already. We’re marching for Jersey City tomorrow. I can’t wait to find Clara.’
Just then, he heard a knock on his door, followed by Miguel’s voice.
"Boss, it’s time for dinner. We’re all waiting for you."
Yawning, Leon stood back up and went to open the door after dressing properly.
"Thanks," He said to the blonde guy with a smile.
Miguel’s eyes narrowed. "Boss, your mood changes like the weather. You’re not on anything similar to a lady’s period, right?"
Immediately, Leon whacked him on the back of his head.
"Stop spouting nonsense and learn to use better descriptions."
Although Leon sounded offended, he was still smiling.
Leaving behind a sulking Miguel, he headed downstairs. Once he was out of earshot, Miguel mumbled, "See? He’s really acting like a girl on her period. So weird!"
Meanwhile, Leon finally joined them downstairs at the dining hall. Just like Miguel, the others were surprised to see him looking cheerful and enthusiastic, even humming a musical tune.
"What exactly is wrong with you?" Selene asked with a frown as he sat beside her.
"Nothing, why?" He asked, turning to her with a charming smile.
Selene blinked, then shook her head. "Nevermind, then."
Leon nodded and turned back to the others at the large table. His own group members, all of Cassie’s family members, Mark’s squad, and Bliss accompanied by Arnold were all present.
It wasn’t wrong to call it a banquet. After all, they were all celebrating the success of their mission and goals.
’Oh, being joyful is amazing~!’
