Everyone returned to the building where Leon entered earlier, and they all faced her as she explained.

"It was the only skill I had with the class. Fate Seer. I tried using it on myself, and I... it felt like my mind shattered into pieces."

She hugged herself and shook.

They could almost see the fear in her eyes.

"Each piece had different visions, and most of them were incomprehensible. I only caught a glimpse of one of them..."

Her voice turned quiet, like she was trying to come to terms with what she had seen.

"I saw a hail of arrows raining on an army, and I could hear cries... I could feel the sorrow. It felt like the world was coming to an end. I don’t remember what happened after that, but I know the world was swallowed by darkness. And that ended it all."

Everyone in the room felt uneasy by the revelation of her vision, and they couldn’t help but attempt to decipher it.

"Since you said it’s about yourself, then you must have been present in that vision." Reymond rubbed his chin, his gaze serious.

Leon said nothing, his expression composed as he closed his eyes.

After a while, he turned to Gwen and asked, "Your eyes. Can you still see?"

She shook her head. "Not for now, at least. Using that skill damaged my eyes, but I know it’ll heal in a while."

Leon turned to Fel, his intentions obvious.

Fel understood and stood up, walking over to Gwen before crouching in front of her.

"Stay still."

Soft radiance bloomed from Fel’s hands and swept over the blindfold, reaching into the damaged eyes.

Gwen grunted slightly but didn’t resist the feeling. After a few minutes, Fel pulled back.

"It should be done. I can’t find anything else to heal."

Gwen smiled bitterly and shook her head. "I don’t think it’s a physical wound. I still can’t see."

Leon and Selene frowned, feeling uneasy about the situation. If even Fel’s healing couldn’t help her, then it was far more serious than they imagined.

"You guys don’t need to worry too much. I’ll be fine in a few days at most."

Leon rubbed the space between his brows and nodded. "Alright. Just keep the blindfold on. And you can always call anyone if you need help."

The young lady managed to give him her usual bright smile. "I’ll be relying on you, then."

Leon nodded without giving it much thought.

Despite the unexpected occurrence, their activities didn’t pause. After an hour and a half, the mutated chicken leg had been grilled properly, and the scent even attracted a few mutated rats hiding in the sewers.

The beasts didn’t dare come close, though. With so many powerful humans gathered together, they kept their distance.

Everyone ate to their capacity, with Miguel and Leon eating the most. Just as expected, the mutated chicken meat was superb and tasted like heaven.

At least none of them had ever eaten anything as good as it. In the end, they only managed to eat half of it. The rest was stored in Leon’s storage ring where it wouldn’t rot and spoil.

"Alright. Let’s get moving."

Leon said to them all as he took Gwen’s hand and boarded the lead bus. The two sat together in a double seat as the engines roared to life and the tires rolled forward.

Gwen said nothing, simply resting her head against the seat and making herself comfortable. Leon kept glancing at her, a flicker of concern in his eyes.

"You know... even a blind man will know you’re looking at them if you do that often," She suddenly said, smiling faintly.

Leon looked away and replied, "I’m just curious... are you okay with being blind—even if only temporary?"

Gwen turned to him and said, "Being blind isn’t my problem right now, is it?"

"The vision..." He muttered.

Nodding slowly, she turned away from him. "I don’t know when it’ll happen, but I’m a little distressed remembering it."

Leon frowned. "A little? I thought you’d be overthinking it."

"I would have," She laughed. "But strangely, that darkness at the end of the vision felt peaceful. Like death. It somehow soothes my agitation whenever I remember it."

Leon’s expression hardened. "Death...? No, you will not die, Gwen."

"Eh?" She turned to him again, surprised. "Why do you sound so sure?"

Shrugging, Leon answered, "Isn’t it simple? As long as I’m alive, you cannot die. It cannot... happen."

"I... why would you say that?" Gwen’s voice shook slightly.

Turning his gaze to look outside the window, Leon didn’t answer immediately. Just when she thought he wasn’t going to reply, he spoke.

"You’ve offered me far too much, and I have barely given you anything in return. At the very least, I will protect your life at any cost."

Gwen’s lips parted like she wanted to say something, but in the end, she fell silent and smiled.

Leon didn’t say anything anymore, keeping the silence between them.

The ride continued, and soon, they drove out of the mutated chicken’s territory and entered a new one.

Immediately, the buses were forced to stop because the street was packed with zombies that were already turning towards them in eerie unison.

"Wait here, I’ll be back," Leon said to her as he stood up and walked towards the door.

Since he hadn’t given the order, none of the Titanbreaker warriors stepped out. Only Selene, Reymond, Bliss, and Miguel had come down from their respective buses.

"Looks like we’ve arrived at the zombie territory," Bliss said with a serious expression. "There are hundreds of thousands of them, so we need to be careful. Or do you have a plan?"

Leon’s cold gaze locked on the approaching zombies. He took a step forward.

"My plan? Attack."

His spear appeared in his hand, and he raised it to the sky.

"Darkness Descent," He whispered quietly.

A black dome suddenly expanded for hundreds of meters, swallowing every zombie in sight.

Everyone watched with tense expressions, as they had never seen Leon use this ability or skill in the past.

Only the members of the Eternal Night City present at the first meeting could remember a similar occurrence happening.

A few minutes later, the dome vanished. The whole place fell silent.

Corpses stretched endlessly before them, the ground stained with pools of black blood.

Only Leon remained standing, his back lonesome but stalwart.

"Move out."
