World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability

Chapter 268: Ice Dragon Selene Slays Pathetic Uncle

Bliss instinctively stepped back at the sight of the man, a dark expression on her face. The others in the group also noticed the unfriendly aura radiating from her, so they were curious.

The older soldier looked at Bliss, then laughed. "You brat! I thought you were dead already. But looks like you’ve got yourself a ragtag group."

Leon frowned and looked at the younger soldier. "When will the questioning commence? You’re wasting our time."

The young soldier stiffened, then turned to his leader, Marcus.

"Captain Marcus, I brought them here for questioning since they claimed they were from Bayonne."

The older man didn’t look surprised. After all, he knew where Bliss had been during the early days of the apocalypse.

"Marcus? I dislike that name," Leon said casually, a scowl on his lips.

Marcus looked at him in disbelief, then laughed. "They’re all suspicious. Kick them out. Only this thick brat is staying."

Bliss’s eyes blazed with fury. "You should think properly before making mistakes. I’m not that girl you think you can molest."

At the sound of that last word, the temperature in the room dropped sharply, and Marcus felt his heart turn cold from fear.

’W-what?! Who’s that?’

He immediately turned to the side and saw Selene glaring at him. A flash of surprise crossed his face as he had never seen anyone as beautiful as her.

However, it was quickly suppressed by the growing fear in his heart.

He immediately turned back to Bliss. "Molest? Don’t make me laugh. What’s there to molest about y—"

He interrupted himself, taking back his words. Bliss was the opposite of a flat-chested and skinny girl.

Still, he scowled and continued. "Anyway, don’t let people misunderstand our relationship. I’m only your uncle. Unless you want to make things difficult for your friends. They seem eager to get into the camp, after all."

Bliss hesitated, glancing at Leon. She didn’t want to be the reason why wouldn’t be allowed entry into the camp.

Leon’s dark eyes remained fixed on Marcus. "Bliss, did he really do as you said?"

The lady’s jaw clenched tightly. "... He did."

Leon nodded. "Alright, just do it already."

"Eh? Do what?" Bliss blinked in confusion. She couldn’t understand why he suddenly said that.

Crack!

She immediately turned towards the sound and saw Marcus’s frozen figure cracking before shattering completely.

’He’s dead..? Just like that?’

An involuntary sigh of relief escaped her lips.

"Ah?!" The young soldier cried out in shock and pointed his gun at the culprit—Selene. "You... you..."

It didn’t take long before more soldiers entered the building, along with a Tier One Evolver.

"What is going on he—" The Evolver froze at the sight of the shattered corpse. "They killed a captain?!"

He immediately moved to attack Leon’s group, but Reymond was faster. He appeared right before the guy and easily knocked him unconscious.

"You definitely don’t want to jump to your death," He said as he watched the guy drop to the ground.

The other soldiers were frightened and all pointed their guns at the group. They knew how strong Evolvers were and the fact that modern weaponry could barely harm them.

"This is becoming a hassle already," Leon grumbled and turned to Gwen. "Your cousin isn’t here yet?"

She smiled mysteriously. "He’s here."

!!!

Reymond moved instinctively, unsheathing his sword and slashing at his left.

Clang!

He managed to block the attack, but he was forced back by a few steps.

"Oh? I didn’t think you’d be able to block that."

A young voice filled with amusement was heard before the speaker was seen.

"Damien, stop!" Gwen hurriedly shouted as she recognized the voice.

"Eh? Gwen?"

The young man finally revealed himself, slipping out of his invisible state. He had long brown hair that reached his back, and a goofy grin on his face.

"Gwen! It’s really you!" He discarded his sword and immediately rushed to hug her. "Haha, I was going to wait for you at the gate when I noticed the disturbance here. I didn’t think it would actually be you guys."

He turned to look at the others, now recognizing Selene and Reymond.

"Ah... Reymond? It was you... damn."

An apologetic expression appeared on his face. "Sorry about that. I just thought it was someone trying to bully our soldiers here."

Reymond rubbed the back of his neck and replied, "It’s nothing. I just knocked the guy unconscious so someone else wouldn’t accidentally kill him."

Damien’s smile stiffened, and he finally noticed the shattered corpse in the room. His expression changed rapidly.

"What happened?"

Gwen immediately answered. "Well... that man used to molest our friend here. So... Selene killed him."

"Ah... damn," Damien cursed, scratching the bridge of his nose.

"If it’s really as you say, then the killing is justifiable, I think. I’ll try to keep this under wraps."

Gwen sighed in relief. "Thank you."

Damien turned to Selene and offered a stiff smile. "Uh... nice meeting you again, Selene."

She nodded coldly, then ignored him.

’As I thought, she hasn’t changed...’

He smiled bitterly and turned to the soldiers. "Carry this guy to the infirmary and clear the... corpse. "Make sure everyone knows he was a molester."

No one objected, and they immediately got to work.

Smiling, Damien turned to the others. "Come with me. I’ll take you to my place."

Leon said nothing as they followed behind Damien. The guy kept chatting with Gwen and Reymond, asking about their experiences while sharing his.

After that single attack that had sent Reymond staggering back, it was clear that the guy was strong. However, that wasn’t Leon’s current concern. He only wanted to find his sister as fast as possible.

Soon, they entered the camp itself. Unlike what they expected, the outer area was filled with several factories, farms, and other industrial buildings. There was not a single accommodation in sight.

"You’re surprised, right?" Damien said to Gwen. "The council made it this way so that if the outer wall falls, the civilians wouldn’t suffer immediately, and the soldiers can retreat to the second wall."

Gwen nodded in understanding. "Factories can be rebuilt, but human lives can’t be recovered."

"Haha, that’s right," Damien laughed. "However, I know a guy who can revive people. Just not in the right way. What is it called again...? Necromancy!"

Selene’s steps paused for a split second before resuming naturally. No one noticed except Leon.
