World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 276: A Nosy FriendLeon stiffened, then slowly turned to Thyra who was resting on him.
"Why are you suddenly nervous? You should go meet her."
Thyra smiled and rolled off him, betraying his expectations of a jealous girlfriend.
’This is good, at least.’
While she easily dressed herself in a garment of shadows, he had to put on his clothes piece by piece.
"Leon?"
Gwen’s voice came from the outside again, and he finally answered.
"Coming."
Once he was done dressing up, he walked towards the door and opened it. Gwen walked inside with a bright smile on her face.
"You were still sleeping?"
Leon shook his head and closed the door behind her. "No, I wasn’t. I was talking to Thyra."
"Thyra?" She stared at him in confusion, then remembered. "Wait! She’s really healed?"
She activated one of her Class skills and looked into his body. Only his damaged soul was visible to her. The other soul was gone.
"Eh? It’s gone?" She asked in confusion.
"Over here, darling~"
Gwen stiffened at the sound of that voice, and her head whipped around to look at the source.
"Ah..."
Even though she wore a blindfold, Leon could imagine her eyes widening.
’So she can see and hear Thyra, huh?’
Thyra smiled and walked up to Gwen, gently poking her nose.
"It seems I can touch you. Nice meeting you, Gwen."
Gwen nodded stiffly and spoke with a dazed expression. "So beautiful..."
Thyra chuckled, then said to her. "This is your first time seeing me. But it’s not my first time seeing you. Thanks for the help in healing me. I owe you one."
Shaking her head, Gwen forcefully suppressed the awe she was feeling and smiled back.
"It’s... fine. I’m glad I could help you recover. This... you’re really just a soul?"
Thyra nodded. "That’s right. Ah, do you mind if I call you sister? I feel like we’ll become really close."
Gwen blushed slightly, a little flattered. "Um... if you want to. I guess I’ll call you that too."
"Your eyes are really special. Though, I’d advise you not to check people’s fate casually. You’ve experienced how badly that ended," The shadow demon warned her while patting her shoulder.
For a while now, she had quite liked Gwen’s character and felt like the young lady would be an adorable younger sister.
Feeling sidelined, Leon coughed. "I’m still here, y’know?"
The two women turned to him, and he sighed.
"Thyra, you shouldn’t tease Gwen, okay? I guess you should be happier now that you’ve found someone of your gender to talk to."
Thyra’s eyes lit up, and she patted Gwen’s head.
"Mn~? You’re very right, Leon. Gwen and I need to know each other well and discuss a few things. Don’t interrupt us."
A few seconds later, Leon was standing outside his room, having been kicked out without hesitation.
’Wait. They won’t start a cat fight in there, right?’
He couldn’t help but feel worried. Gwen was frail and fragile. He didn’t think she’d be able to win if Thyra started pummelling her.
’What am I thinking? Such a thing can’t happen.’
Shaking his head, he decided to head downstairs. At the same time, another door opened and Selene stepped out.
Her cold gaze settled on Leon, then softened with recognition.
"You seem strangely optimistic. Have you heard anything about your sister?"
Leon shook his head, walking by her side as they headed downstairs.
"I haven’t heard anything yet, but I’m going to look for Damien and ask."
Selene nodded, then narrowed her eyes as she looked at him again. Suddenly, she stepped closer, invading his personal space as she took a sniff around his neck.
Leon stared at her with wide eyes, shell-shocked. "What are you doing?"
She pulled back after a few seconds. "Something seems very different about you this morning. It’s almost like your demeanor has changed. And there’s this unfamiliar scent you’re carrying..."
Leon’s pupils shrunk. ’She can smell Thyra on me? That’s nosy.’
"... What’s with that look? Did you think of something rude?"
Sensing the coldness in her voice returning, he shook his head and denied it.
Selene stared at him for two seconds, then turned away with a frown. "For some reason, I don’t like that smell. You should probably wash it off."
Leon could only offer a stiff smile before nodding. She’d always been like this—direct to the point of rudeness. He didn’t mind, though. He walked behind her as they came down the stairs while trying not to remember the events of the previous night.
Soon, they arrived downstairs together, easily finding Damien who was submerged in the pool.
Selene stood some distance away, clearly unwilling to stand close to a half-naked man. Leon approached Damien and spoke to him.
"Good morning."
The long-haired youth opened his eyes and turned to Leon. "Ah, Leon. Good morning to you too. Did you come to see me if I’ve gotten any leads?"
Leon nodded, thinking, ’Straight to the point. I like that.’
Damien sighed and shook his head. "Nothing yet. The east wing has been thoroughly combed through, but hasn’t yielded any results. I’ll have them check again this morning, then move to another wing of the camp."
Leon glanced at Selene who was already walking away, then turned back to Damien.
"I see. Thanks for the help, and sorry for the trouble."
Damien smiled. "Nah, it’s nothing. You’re Gwen’s friend, and I promised to help you guys search for your family members. At least, until Gwen and I have to leave."
"Leave?" Leon’s eyes narrowed.
Damien felt a little embarrassed that he had probably leaked a secret. Sadly, he couldn’t take back his words.
"Uh... yes." He nodded. "She didn’t tell you? Our flight will arrive in a few days. We should get results before then, though."
Leon nodded and turned around. "Thank you for the information."
Damien watched him go, then sank into the pool.
’I didn’t ruin a relationship by saying that, right?’
A light smile played at his lips.
Meanwhile, Leon returned to his room and knocked on the door. It felt very strange to ask for permission to enter his own room. Still, he did it.

The door was opened by Gwen who now wore a brighter smile and a new blindfold.
