’Uh... this is weird. I thought there’d be some tension in the air. What’s going on?’

Shifting his gaze from Gwen to Thyra, he felt the question marks on his head multiply.

Gwen seemed to be getting along with Thyra, looking at the beautiful woman in awe and admiration.

’I get all that, but something feels off...’

Shaking his head to dismiss the thoughts, he turned back to Gwen. "Damien mentioned that you’d be leaving with him. You haven’t told him yet?"

Her expression cooled slightly. "Ah... I haven’t told him yet. I’ll probably just tell him a day before he’s ready to leave. I simply want him to help me deliver a message to my grandfather."

"A message?" Leon’s brows furrowed. "Can’t you text him?"

Gwen shook her head. "We can’t trust the restored internet, Leon. I have a feeling that the government is monitoring every message we send. If they get wind of our city too early, we might be fighting a war that is already lost."

"A war, huh?" Leon muttered.

Clapping her hands, Thyra smiled and drew their attention to her.

"You two shouldn’t worry about your little kingdom being suppressed. Instead, you should worry about the Phase Two evolution of your world."

Leon’s eyes widened. "Wait, already? I thought it was supposed to take some years."

"Well, I used to think that way too," She said, folding her arms. "But looking at the high number of Tier Two creatures on your planet right now... I can tell that the evolution isn’t far off."

Her expression turned grave, and she looked at Leon with deep concern.

"Leon, you shouldn’t get conceited with your current strength. Once your world enters Phase Two evolution, your strength wouldn’t be enough."

Gwen immediately became worried. "Leon, are your evolution requirements that difficult? If there’s anything I can help with, let me know."

Thyra glanced at her in surprise, but the young lady didn’t notice.

’She isn’t worried about herself, who hasn’t even reached peak Tier One, but Leon instead?’

Leon’s expression was serious. He frowned faintly, then shook his head.

"They’re not exactly things I can accomplish with someone else’s help. But I guess I’ll have to hasten doing them. Once I find my sister, we’ll head back to the city. Then... I’ll start with them."

Gwen patted her ample chest in relief, then turned to Thyra. "Um... I’ll get going for now. If you want to talk to me, just tell Leon to call me. I’ll activate that skill so I can see you."

Thyra smiled and waved her off. "Bye~bye, Sister Gwen~!"

Leon turned to her, his eyes narrowing. "You’re suspiciously close to her. What exactly are you planning?"

Thyra stared at him in disbelief. "Me? Planning? Do you think I’m the kind of woman to scheme?"

Leon nodded confidently, causing her smile to stiffen.

"Oh, well. I’m not scheming anything bad, at least. I’m just enthusiastic about making a new friend."

Leon shook his head and sat by the bed. "I’m not sure she knows our relationship yet. I don’t know how she’ll react to that."

Thyra’s smile dimmed slightly, and she hummed in agreement. "I have no doubt that she might have noticed hints. Anyway, I don’t think she’s the type to do evil just to spite you, so put it off your mind."

Leon nodded and stood up again. "I’m going to go take my bath then look around the camp. I might be lucky and find her on my own."

Thyra’s lips curved slightly, and she gave him an approving nod.

Some time later, Leon headed downstairs with Thyra walking beside him. It had been a while since they had walked side by side, and he certainly missed it.

"Getting nostalgic, are we?" She grinned slightly.

Leon smiled but didn’t respond. They were already in the presence of the others.

"Good morning..." Fel greeted him softly, her eyes narrowing slightly as she also noted something different about him.

Bliss stood beside her, arms folded as she watched a show being played on the TV.

Leon returned Fel’s greeting before turning to Bliss.

"You seem uninterested in that show you’re watching. Do you want to take a walk?"

Bliss glanced at him in surprise, then nodded. "Alright."

Fel wanted to join them too, but seeing that he didn’t invite her, she remained silent.

Leon and Bliss left the building together, retracing their steps yesterday during the tour. The first place they visited was the crowded market, where several people were selling provisions, home appliances, and several other things that wouldn’t normally be found in the same place.

It was chaotic, yet orderly as no one crossed the line by trying to steal or rob others. Leon noticed a few evolvers in police uniforms standing around and monitoring the place.

’Probably below Level 15, but strong enough to suppress any normal human.’

He nodded slightly to himself. As they left the market, he finally spoke to Bliss.

"Why did you come to this place?"

The young woman paused, turning to face him. "What do you mean, why? I’m just curious about the camp."

Leon obviously didn’t buy the reason, at least not completely. "Is that the real reason? Wait, let’s stop beating around the bush. Are you in support of the government?"

Bliss couldn’t answer immediately. She studied his expression for a moment, then looked away.

"It is the right thing to do."

Leon raised an eyebrow. "But?"

"But..." She sighed. "I have a bad feeling about it, so I don’t want to support them."

’A bad feeling? This is different than I thought...’ Leon frowned slightly, then resumed walking.

Bliss followed beside him. "The president is said to be dead, but the vice president is still alive and ruling in his stead. I can’t help but feel like the vice president is a puppet controlled by someone else."

Leon’s eyes narrowed. ’Could it be Selene’s father? This is really...’

He shook his head. "If your reasoning is right, then it would surely be a problem. The old government is already unreliable enough. In this apocalyptic era, I’m not ready to leave my fate and well-being to someone else."

Bliss smiled slightly and said, "I already expected that. But the question is... can you?"
