World Evolution Apocalypse: I Possess The Extraction Ability
Chapter 283: Gwen’s Feelings"Boss!"
Cassie squeezed herself into Leon’s arms, a smile appearing on her emotionless face. Leon exhaled and patted her head.
"Mn, I’m back."
Standing beside Leon, Thyra glared at the young lady with sharp eyes. If looks could kill, Cassie would have died a thousand times over.
’Tsk. Clingy cats in human skin.’
She scowled in displeasure. Sadly, there was nothing she could do. Leon was the only human she could touch because she was bound to him. If she tried touching Cassie, her hands would only phase through.
So instead, she vented her displeasure on Leon by biting his neck. She didn’t bite too deeply, though. Just enough to make him wince.
Hearing the sound, Cassie released Leon and sized him up. "Are you hurt?"
Leon shook his head and rubbed his neck, hiding the bite mark. "I’m fine. Thanks."
She nodded calmly, then turned to Fel. Her smile returned a little, and she went ahead to hug the girl.
The others also got down from the buses, and Arnold welcomed them into the camp. They all headed to Mark’s mansion as if an agreement had been made earlier.
The man met them halfway there, a smile lighting up his face as soon as he saw Leon and Bliss.
"Hahaha! You all are back. I was starting to wonder if you’ve settled over there and forgotten about us."
Bliss smiled and shook her head. "I can never forget my people."
The statement made Arnold straighten his back, and Mark’s smile widened.
"Come, come! Let’s have a feast!"
The Titanbreaker Legion was left outside and ushered to their own accommodation while the others came into Mark’s mansion.
It was also at this moment that Gwen finally woke up.
She stirred in Selene’s arms, then looked up to see her friend. A smile appeared on her face, only for it to immediately dim.
"Ah... I thought it was Leon."
Selene stared at the blindfold covering her eyes, then dropped her to the ground.
"Ow!"
Gwen pouted and stood up, dusting her dress as she looked around. The others had also gathered around her, relieved that she was finally awake.
"What happened and where are we?"
Leon rubbed his eyelids and answered her calmly, "We’re back in Bayonne. As for what happened, you were about to be kidnapped and shipped—no, flown over to your grandfather. We got you back, and now we’re here."
Gwen’s eyes widened behind the blindfold. "Damien drugged me?"
Selene nodded. "Apparently, he figured out you were unwilling to leave with him, so he did that."
Gwen’s expression darkened slightly, and she felt a flicker of irritation. Even though she could understand why he had done that, she still felt annoyed. Her annoyance didn’t last, though.
Anyone who knew her well would know that she was a clingy brat who liked to be around her grandfather.
Her unwillingness to go meet him now would obviously be seen as an anomaly.
"Ugh... what a mess," She grunted, covering her face with her hands. "Well, looks like we’re supposed to be eating, right? I’m a little hungry."
Mark clapped his large hands and nodded. "Well said, Miss Gwen! Everyone, take your seats."
The banquet began in a light-hearted atmosphere, fueled by the joy of their reunion. Cassie stubbornly sat next to Leon while Gwen took his other side.
He shook his head and took a spoonful of the soup. His eyes lit up, and he smiled.
"This is good," He remarked.
"Surely, it is good. But which is better~?"
Thyra asked as she wrapped her arms around his neck and rested her full bosom on his head.
Leon’s smile stiffened. His hand trembled slightly, but no one noticed. Maintaining a facade of composure, he continued eating.
’This damned demon! I thought she has stopped teasing.’
Coincidentally, Gwen became curious about Thyra’s whereabouts and activated her perception skill.
She searched around the room, then turned in Leon’s direction. The sight made her choke on ordinary water.
"Are you alright?" Cassie’s mother, who sat beside her, asked in concern.
Gwen cleared her throat and nodded her head, a little embarrassed. Thankfully, not many people noticed her choking.
She slowly turned back to Leon and saw Thyra still leaning against him.
’Eeeekkkk!’ She squealed inwardly and turned away, not wanting to be caught looking. ’So naughty!’
Over the past few days, she had gotten the chance to interact more with Thyra and had come to a realization that stunned her. Leon and Thyra were a couple.
Although she hadn’t confirmed it from them, she was sure of it. At first, she had been dismayed and heartbroken. It was only then that she understood why Leon couldn’t return her love.
He was in love with another woman. The realization tormented her, even till now. However, she forced herself to live with it.
After all, she had also noticed something else. Despite knowing she loved Leon, Thyra didn’t hate her. If anything, Thyra treated her kindly, like a neighborhood older sister.
It was a bitter feeling, adding to the turmoil already tormenting her heart. However, it also gave her a twisted hope.
Perhaps, one day, she might be able to... steal him from Thyra.
She didn’t dwell on the thought, though, pushing it to the back of her mind. Instead, she friend-zoned herself and befriended Thyra without changing her attitude toward Leon in the slightest.
After all, her love for him didn’t change.
Still, the sight tonight was one she found hard to accept. Her thoughts began to spiral, eventually leading to one big question.
’Have they... done it?’
"You aren’t eating and are only blushing. Are you alright?"
Leon asked as he turned to her. For a moment, he thought the sedatives were affecting her. Only a few seconds later did he realize she might have seen Thyra resting on his head.
’What a mess!’
Gwen shook her head and continued eating, unwilling to turn to him again. Leon also refocused on the meal—at least, he tried to.
The softness on his head was greatly distracting, after all.
About an hour later, the banquet ended, and everyone returned to their respective rooms. Bliss and Arnold excused themselves from the mansion while the others went to the rooms they had stayed in before.
Naturally, Leon and Thyra stayed in the same room, already knowing that the night would be anything but quiet.
