World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch

Chapter 25: Against A Rank One Evolver (Part 1)

"Are you sure he is a Rank One Evolver?" Evan asked again, just to be sure.

William nodded and explained.

"As we told you, we used an Uncommon-grade treasure to run away from them. The treasure we used was called White Blindness. It made anyone below Level 40 blind for fifteen seconds, but it also had a secondary effect." William pasued for a second before he continued.

"If you aren’t a Rank One Evolver or above, you won’t be able to use any of your skills as soon as it gets close to you. But despite White Blindness being right in front of him, that man was still able to fire Ice Bullets at us. If he hadn’t been careless, I am sure he wouldn’t have even been hit by White Blindness."

"I see..." Evan finally understood why they were certain that man was a Rank One Evolver and nodded.

"I think we should inform the guards first...." Seeing that Evan seemed to be planning to go after the Rank One Evolver, William immediately spoke. "Although you are strong, Rank One Evolvers are very different from unranked ones. It will be dangerous even for you to face them."

Evan knew William was right. It was common knowledge that unranked beings couldn’t possibly fight against ranked ones.

But the sole reason Evan had entered the Dark Forest this time was to test his strength against a Rank One Evolver, so it didn’t matter to him whether he faced a human or a magical beast.

However, there was one thing that worried him.

’During my fight against that Rank One Evolver, I wouldn’t be able to protect those children. If that guy tried to attack them during the fight, they would undoubtedly die.’

Although Alfred had taught Evan to be ruthless when necessary, he wasn’t someone who would kill or let innocent people die for no reason.

Especially when they were just young children.

He thought for a moment before speaking to William and Anna.

"I can take care of that Rank One Evolver. The problem is that during my fight against him, I won’t be able to protect the children. If he tries to attack them while we’re fighting, they’ll die for sure. So, while I fight him, I want you guys to take the children somewhere safe."

Hearing Evan, both William and Anna were stunned and felt as if they were hearing things because of their injuries.

To make sure they hadn’t heard him wrong, William asked cautiously.

"Did you just say you want to fight against that Rank One Evolver?"

Evan wasn’t surprised by their reaction.

After all, it was like a newborn child claiming that he could fight against an adult man.

But Evan didn’t have time to explain himself, so he simply said.

"I am not sure if I can win against him or not, but I am certain that I can draw his attention for a period of time. Once you rescue the children, I can leave whenever I want, and that guy won’t be able to stop me."

Hearing Evan’s words, William and Anna thought about his ghostly speed earlier and felt that he was right.

With that kind of agility, even a Rank One Evolver would have a hard time stopping him.

Considering the children’s safety, both of them discussed it for a moment before finally agreeing to help him.

Evan sighed in relief when William and Anna agreed. He took out a rope from his Storage Ring and tied the two unconscious slave traders to nearby trees.

He also broke their hands and feet so that they wouldn’t be able to break free from the ropes.

William and Anna once again felt their scalps tingle when they saw Evan casually breaking their bones as if he were doing an everyday chore at home.

At the same time, both of them were surprised to see that Evan had a Storage Ring.

Once both of the men were completely disabled, Evan threw some cold water onto the chubby man’s face to wake him up.

When the chubby man woke up, he immediately felt pain throughout his entire body and began screaming in agony.

However, Evan didn’t give him any time to recover and grabbed him by the hair.

"What is the level of the guy holding the children?"

The chubby man gritted his teeth in pain and glared at Evan with hate-filled eyes.

Seeing that he wasn’t answering, Evan created a small Wind Bullet and shot it forward.

The bullet didn’t hit him directly and merely grazed his cheek, making a small cut on his face.

"Next time, I won’t miss. If you don’t want to lose your eyes, answer my question before I run out of patience."

Hearing Evan’s cold tone, the chubby man shuddered and quickly answered.

"His level is 36. He reached Level 36 two days ago."

William and Anna immediately became tense upon hearing this.

They had initially thought that the third slave trader would be a newly ascended Rank One Evolver.

But after hearing that he was already Level 36, they found it difficult to remain calm.

However, unlike them, when Evan heard that the third slave trader was Level 36, a smile appeared on his face.

"Perfect."

He muttered under his breath and quickly told William and Anna to lead the way toward his location.

William and Anna felt uneasy after learning that the other party was Level 36. But seeing Evan’s enthusiasm, they gritted their teeth and led the way.

Evan followed beside them and glanced at his status window.

---) Title: Slayer

---) Slayer: When fighting against an enemy who is at least fifteen levels above you, your attacks deal 10% additional damage.

Ever since Evan had received this title, he hadn’t been able to use its effect.

After killing the Forest Tiger, his level had increased to Level 7. The next magical beast he encountered was the Steel Bear, which was Level 20. After killing it, he had leveled up four times and reached Level 11, so he still hadn’t been able to activate the title’s effect.

But now, his opponent was sixteen levels above him, and the title’s effect could finally be used.

Although a 10% increase might not seem like much, to Evan, this 10% was essentially free additional damage.

So, after hearing that his opponent was Level 36, he wasn’t nervous.

Instead, he felt that things had worked out perfectly.

After checking the details of his title, Evan looked at William and Anna and noticed that both siblings had tense expressions.

Wanting to change the mood, Evan asked something he had been wondering about ever since he saw them fighting.

"Why didn’t you guys use your skills while fighting against them?"

When Evan saw them earlier, both of them had been fighting with their weapons without using any skills.

Even the two slave traders had used a skill or two during the fight, but William and Anna hadn’t used a single one.

Hearing his question, Anna looked at him and explained.

"My skill isn’t an attacking-type skill, and using White Blindness consumed 90% of William’s mana, so he wasn’t able to use his skill either."

’Not an attacking-type skill...’

Evan raised an eyebrow when he heard Anna’s words but didn’t ask anything.

Around ten minutes later, they got closer to the place where the third slave trader was holding the children.

However, the moment they got closer, they heard several screams coming from ahead, and their expressions immediately changed.
