World Evolution: Starting With The Wind Monarch
Chapter 44: Bone Controlling SkullAfter looking at the updated requirements, Evan didn’t start exploring the second floor immediately.
Instead, he first cleared some of the bones around him and sat down. He took out some food from his Storage Ring and began eating to fill his stomach.
After finishing his meal, he rested for another thirty minutes.
Once the thirty minutes had passed, Evan felt that his stamina had fully recovered so he stood up and spoke calmly.
"Begin Exploration."
After his voice fell, Evan waited for something to happen.
However, even after a full minute had passed, nothing happened.
Evan frowned slightly.
’Did I not speak loudly enough?’
He took a deep breath and shouted loudly.
"Begin Exploration!"
But once again, nothing happened.
Evan looked around with a confused expression before shrugging and deciding to continue forward.
He began walking deeper into the bone-filled hallway, and the farther he went, the more bones he saw.
’I just hope that not all of these bones will turn into skeletons.’
Evan looked at the countless bones surrounding him with a grim expression.
After walking for around five minutes, he suddenly stopped and carefully looked around.
Just a moment ago, he had felt as if someone was watching him.
However, the strange feeling disappeared the moment he stopped.
Evan narrowed his eyes and began walking forward again, this time at a faster pace.
However, after taking only a few steps, a strong sense of danger suddenly washed over him.
Without hesitation, Evan instinctively jumped to the side.
SLASH!
Just as he moved away, the bones beneath his previous position suddenly split apart, and a meter-long bone spike erupted from the ground.
Evan quickly landed on his feet and looked at the bone spike with a dark expression.
’If that thing had hit me, I would definitely have been seriously injured. And getting injured in my current situation is really not a good thing.’
Evan immediately dashed toward the bone spike and swung his sword.
SHATTER!
The Black Star struck the bone spike, instantly shattering it into countless fragments.
However, instead of feeling relieved, Evan’s expression became even grimmer because he hadn’t received any notification from his Status Window.
’As I thought, it wasn’t a monster. These are just normal bones being controlled by someone.’
Evan immediately looked around, trying to find whoever was controlling them.
However, all he could see were countless piles of bones, with no obvious sign of an enemy.
Feeling that the situation wasn’t good, Evan immediately started running deeper into the hallway while carefully observing his surroundings.
But after running for only around thirty seconds, that dangerous feeling suddenly appeared again.
Evan immediately jumped sideways.
BOOM!
Two bone spikes erupted from the ground where he had been standing a moment ago.
This time, Evan didn’t even look at the spikes.
Instead, he carefully scanned his surroundings, trying to find any anomaly.
But he still couldn’t see anything strange.
Since he still couldn’t find his enemy, Evan didn’t bother destroying the bone spikes either and simply continued running deeper into the hallway.
After running for around another minute, that dangerous feeling suddenly appeared again.
Evan immediately jumped sideways.
However, this time, instead of looking around, his eyes focused on the countless bones surrounding him.
He carefully scanned the piles of bones, and suddenly, his eyes stopped on a skeleton skull.
At first glance, the skull looked completely normal, just like the countless other skulls scattered throughout the hallway.
But Evan was certain that he had just seen a faint red glow inside one of its eye sockets.
Although the glow disappeared almost instantly, he was certain that he had seen it.
’Found you.’
Evan sneered and immediately dashed toward the skull.
The moment he moved, the skull seemed to sense the danger, and a red glow once again appeared inside its eye sockets.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Bone spikes erupted from the ground one after another, blocking Evan’s path.
Evan twisted his body and dodged one spike after another while continuing toward the skull.
"Now that I know where you are, do you really think you can stop me with your little tricks?"
Evan shouted as he continued dodging the bone spikes.
With every step, the distance between him and the skull became smaller.
After evading dozens of bone spikes, he finally reached the skull.
SWOOSH!
Evan swung the Black Star with all his strength.
CRACK!
The blade struck the skull and shattered it into countless bone fragments.
At the same time, a notification appeared on his Status Window.
[You have killed an unranked Undead Bone-Controlling Skeleton Skull, Level 25. You cannot...]
A smile appeared on Evan’s face when he saw the notification.
’So that’s what I have to do.’
He had finally figured out how the enemy was controlling the bones around him.
Instead of blindly walking through the hallway while searching for his hidden enemy, he now knew exactly what he needed to look for.
After destroying the Bone-Controlling Skeleton Skull, Evan continued deeper into the hallway.
However, before he could walk very far, the entire hallway suddenly began to shake.
RUMBLE!
Evan stopped and looked around, only to see the piles of bones surrounding him begin to move.
Soon, around ten skeleton skulls emerged from the sea of bones.
Seeing the ten skulls, a cold smile appeared on Evan’s face.
"So you finally can’t hide anymore, huh?"
Evan immediately dashed toward them at his full speed.
The moment he moved, all ten skulls’ eye sockets began glowing red.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Bone spikes erupted from the ground one after another, creating countless obstacles in Evan’s path and trying to pierce his body.
However, with more than 180 points of Agility, Evan’s body was extremely agile, allowing him to easily dodge the incoming attacks.
The distance between him and the skulls slowly closed, and soon, he was only a short distance away from them.
But just as he was about to reach them, Evan suddenly stopped, and his expression changed slightly.
Without even turning around, he swung his sword behind him.
CLANG!
The Black Star collided with a bony claw.
The immense force behind Evan’s strike shattered the claw into countless tiny bone fragments.
Evan immediately turned around and looked at the owner of the claw.
A two-meter-tall wolf skeleton was standing behind him.
One of its claws had been shattered by Evan’s earlier attack.
However, what surprised Evan was that the broken fragments of its claw moved and quickly rearranged themselves, restoring the damaged claw.
Within less than three seconds, the shattered claw had completely recovered, as if it had never been damaged.
Evan’s eyes narrowed when he saw this.
’A regeneration ability?’
Without giving the wolf skeleton any time to attack after recovering, Evan immediately dashed toward it and engaged it in close combat.
CLANG! CRACK! BOOM!
The wolf skeleton’s bones were extremely hard, and its two-meter-tall body possessed considerable strength.
However, Evan’s abnormal physical strength was far beyond what the skeleton could withstand.
Within twenty seconds, Evan had completely shattered the wolf skeleton’s body.
The wolf collapsed into a pile of bones, but Evan wasn’t happy because the broken bones of the wolf skeleton once again began moving and rapidly rearranging themselves.
Within a few seconds, the wolf skeleton once again appeared before Evan, completely restored.
Evan frowned, and his expression became solemn.
’How am I supposed to defeat this thing?’
Just then, he suddenly remembered something and couldn’t help but curse himself for his own stupidity.
While fighting against the skeleton wolf, he had been paying attention to the skeleton skulls behind him in order to avoid their attacks.
However, during his entire fight against the wolf skeleton, none of them had attacked him.
He had been confused by their behavior, but now he finally understood what was happening.
’Bone-Controlling Skeleton Skull...’
He recalled the name of the skull-type skeleton, and his eyes flashed.
’This skeleton wolf isn’t an actual undead. It’s something those skulls created using their Bone Control ability.’
As soon as he realized this, Evan immediately ignored the wolf and dashed toward the ten skulls again.
However, the wolf skeleton being controlled by the ten skulls was even faster than him.
It quickly caught up and blocked his path.
Evan’s eyes flashed with cold light as he mustered all his strength and swung the Black Star.
BOOM!
The sword struck the wolf skeleton and sent it flying backward.
Taking advantage of the opening, Evan immediately rushed toward the ten skulls.
The skulls desperately tried to stop him by creating one bone spike after another, but Evan easily dodged them.
He reached the skulls and began swinging his sword.
CRACK!
One skull shattered.
SWOOSH!
CRACK!
Another skull was destroyed.
One after another, Evan shattered the Bone-Controlling Skeleton Skulls.
And within just a few seconds, he destroyed all of them.
The instant the last skull was destroyed, the skeleton wolf froze.
Its body began trembling before collapsing into countless bones.
Evan saw this and let out a sigh of relief.
"Finally done."
He looked around to see if the ten skulls had dropped anything.
But his luck seemed to be really bad, as even these ten skulls didn’t drop anything.
Evan was a little disappointed, but he could only shake his head and continue moving deeper into the hallway.
He walked for almost six hours.
During those six hours, he encountered numerous Skeleton Soldiers and Bone-Controlling Skeleton Skulls.
However, after understanding how the Bone-Controlling Skeleton Skulls worked, none of them troubled him much, and he easily defeated every monster he encountered without using mana.
Finally, after nearly six hours of exploration, Evan arrived in front of a massive mountain of bones.
He stopped some distance away from it and looked up.
The enormous mountain of bones towered over him, but as his gaze reached the top, he immediately noticed something.
"That’s..."
Evan narrowed his eyes as he saw someone sitting on top of the bone mountain.
After focusing his gaze, he was finally able to see the figure clearly.
It was a wolf skeleton.
The skeleton was sitting calmly on top of the mountain of bones, staring down at Evan.
A powerful aura radiated from its body, making Evan’s expression serious.
This wolf skeleton was completely different from the skeletons he had encountered until now.
Its aura had also reached the Rank One stage.
Just from its aura, Evan could feel that this skeleton was much stronger than any of the skeletons he had encountered so far.
Evan took a deep breath, tightened his grip around the Black Star, and walked toward the bone mountain.
