Chapter 801: Chapter 801: Shopping
The best part was that the system allowed users to analyze the mutated beasts while fighting them.
Even if someone did not know a particular beast’s weaknesses beforehand, they could gradually discover them through repeated training.
Naturally, many citizens began wondering about the source of all this information.
"If Ivy already has complete data on mutated beasts, why does she not make everything public instead of keeping the information inside the fighting pods?"
Ivy almost wanted to laugh whenever she heard such questions.
’It is not even my knowledge in the first place.’
The information had been provided by the temporal storage.
In fact, the temporal storage had even offered her an entire book containing information about the mutated beasts, including their weaknesses, habitats, and mutation processes.
However, Ivy’s expression had turned serious when she discovered certain details inside the book.
Some creatures could apparently be controlled through humans.
Others could be tamed, raised, and eventually used as assassination weapons.
There were even certain beasts that could be consumed to increase a person’s rank, although doing so could gradually corrupt the person’s mind and make them more violent and evil.
Ivy’s skin had gone cold when she realized how dangerous the information could become in the wrong hands.
Therefore, she copied the entire book into a separate modified version.
She carefully altered the dangerous information.
For example, regarding the beasts that could supposedly be tamed, she added warnings explaining that those creatures had an extremely high chance of creating powerful illusions and that humans should maintain a safe distance from them.
As for the beasts that could consume humans and potentially be used as assassination weapons, Ivy replaced the original instructions with a clear warning.
"Stay away from these creatures. Their bodies contain highly toxic substances that can be fatal."
After carefully altering the information, Ivy backed out of the file and uploaded the modified version onto the internet through her own account.
Once she finished, she slumped back into her chair.
Her body felt exhausted, and she stared blankly at the ceiling as the cool air from the ventilation system brushed against her face.
’At least this way, I can prevent someone from using that knowledge irresponsibly.’
Just as she was lost in thought, the door to her room opened. Ember and Talia walked inside together.
Both of them smiled at Ivy. "Are you done with your work?"
Ivy looked at them and smiled before nodding. "Yes, I am finally finished."
Talia immediately brightened. "Then let us go to the shopping mall."
Ivy hesitated for only a moment before nodding.
"All right, let us go."
After all, she had helped create the shopping mall with the assistance of the temporal storage.
’If I never use it myself, then what was the point of spending so much money on it?’
Once they arrived at the shopping mall, however, Ivy quickly realized that she had underestimated both Talia and Ember.
The trio seemed to have been possessed by something.
They began shopping like there was no tomorrow.
They moved from one store to another, carrying bags until their hands were nearly full.
The bright lights, perfume-filled air, music, and constant movement made the entire place feel almost overwhelming.
Eventually, even Ivy’s feet began to ache. After walking for what felt like hours, she finally headed toward the bathroom.
She disappeared inside. Thirty minutes later, Ivy returned.
Ember immediately noticed that Ivy’s shoes had changed. Her lips also looked slightly swollen.
Amber stared at her in confusion.
"What happened? You look as though you have suffered some kind of indigestion."
Ivy waved her hand dismissively. "It was the chili candies I ate. I was craving them."
Amber shook her head helplessly.
"I understand cravings, but if you eat too much, you could end up harming yourself. It would really not be worth it."
Ivy smiled sheepishly. "All right, all right. I will be more careful next time."
Talia looked at the two of them and laughed.
"Let us just make sure Ivy does not disappear into another store before we finish shopping."
Ivy sighed as she looked at the mountain of shopping bags surrounding them.
’I am beginning to think building the mall was a mistake.’
Ivy nodded and smiled faintly.
"I understand, I understand. Let us go."
After finishing their shopping, Ivy returned to the apartment area, where she unexpectedly saw Nanami waiting nearby.
The moment she noticed him, her expression immediately changed. Her brows furrowed, and she walked toward him with measured steps.
Nanami noticed her approaching and smiled politely. "Hello. Greetings to the future Empress."
Ivy’s eyes narrowed.
"You were the one who asked Silas to remove Jade from our group, were you not?"
Nanami’s expression changed slightly.
"Miss, you are misunderstanding me. I was only trying to show you the real problem. Trust me, Jade is someone who could turn against you at any moment and cause serious trouble."
He paused, studying Ivy’s reaction carefully.
"After all, I strongly suspect that he possesses some strange ability that allows him to influence you. Otherwise, you have already cut contact with Jade. Why would you suddenly want to bring him along? Isn’t that strange?"
Ivy frowned.
"That is my decision. I will decide who I want on my team, Mr. Nanami."
Her voice became colder.
"I never thought you would be the kind of person who enjoys gossiping and poking your nose into other people’s business."
Nanami shook his head.
"All right. Since you feel that I am interfering in your affairs, I will not do it anymore."
He looked at her seriously.
"But trust me, you are putting yourself in grave danger by keeping that person close to you."
Ivy narrowed her eyes. "I will keep that in mind."
Nanami gave her one final look before turning around and walking away.
Ivy watched him disappear before returning to her apartment.
The moment she stepped inside, she carefully closed the door behind her.
The apartment was unusually quiet.
For several minutes, she simply stood there, listening to the faint hum of the ventilation system and the distant sounds coming from outside.
Then she spoke. "He is gone, and there is nothing else in the apartment."
The moment she finished speaking, the curtains suddenly fluttered. A shadow moved behind them.
Silas stepped out. He walked toward Ivy and immediately knelt in front of her.
Without saying anything, he gently took her feet into his hands and began massaging them.
Ivy looked down at him. Silas remained focused on her feet as he asked, "Did he approach you?"
Ivy nodded. "He did."
Silas’s expression darkened slightly. "So, what do you think about it?"
He looked up at her. "What do you think about the theory you had?"
Ivy remained silent for a moment, thinking about everything Nanami had said.
Then she slowly nodded.
"I am now ninety-nine percent sure."
The previous day, Silas had come to her and told her about how Nanami had repeatedly tried to push Jade away from their team.
It was not a casual suggestion.
Nanami seemed unusually determined to keep Jade away, almost as though he was afraid of what might happen if Jade joined them.
Silas had already sensed something suspicious about it.
That was why he had told Ivy that they needed to be careful.
"Ivy, if we want to know what Nanami is really planning, we need to make sure he eventually makes a mistake."
Ivy’s gaze sharpened as she remembered his words.
’If Nanami truly has something to hide, then eventually, he will reveal it himself.’
Silas continued massaging her feet, his movements slow and gentle despite the seriousness of their conversation.
"We need to give him enough room to expose himself."
Ivy nodded quietly. "I know."
Just as they had finally wrapped up their discussion, a knock sounded against the room door.
The sudden noise made Silas quickly slip behind the curtains, while Ivy turned toward the entrance and opened the door. When she saw Bella standing outside, she immediately stepped aside and let her in.
Bella entered with a worried expression on her face, her brows slightly drawn together as though she had been carrying the concern with her all the way there.
"I heard that you and Silas had a fight."
When Ivy nodded, Bella released a quiet sigh.
"Ivy, please do not get me wrong, but trust me when I tell you that Silas would never deliberately try to harm you. If he said something to you in anger, it was most likely because he was worried about you."
