Chapter 817: Chapter 817: Signals

Ivy felt much more reassured whenever she thought about it.

What was even better was that she had various machines capable of processing agricultural and animal products into useful byproducts. Milk could be turned into butter, curd, and other products, while numerous other machines could simplify different stages of production.

She had already arranged several of these machines inside her temporal storage.

If that was not enough, the temporal storage itself had allowed her to purchase ready-made machines through its special functions. She did not even need to spend much time manually processing the raw materials into their byproducts.

Therefore, Ivy was not particularly worried about running out of supplies.

As for fish and other aquatic animals, things had become even more convenient.

When she had first taken water into her temporal storage, the temporal storage had informed her that once it reached its ultimate level, it would possess enough energy and power to sustain the celestial fish and other aquatic creatures within the water she had previously stored.

That meant the aquatic life within it could remain alive and continue developing.

Now, Ivy had an entire small river flowing through her temporal storage, complete with living fish and various other aquatic animals.

Looking at everything she had gradually built inside her temporal space, Ivy felt a little more confident about the journey ahead.

’Even if Planet Astra turns out to be dangerous, at least we will never starve.’

What made Ivy even more impressed was that the temporal storage had specifically purchased a high-tier spice farm that could grow spices automatically. Even her own farm had become almost completely self-sufficient.

At this point, Ivy was basically like a hands-off boss. She only needed to order whatever supplies she wanted, and sooner or later, they would appear inside her temporal storage.

’Even my supplies-picking superpower has reached the max level.’

It was genuinely amazing. One day, she could receive towels, while the next day, she could get ready-made clothes, medicine, or even skincare products.

The list of things she could obtain was so long that Ivy had started imagining what she would do if she were ever sent back to some kind of ancient world.

’Perhaps I should just open a supermarket and let everyone take one item every day. With my superpower, I could restock everything within a single day.’

As she thought about it, she suddenly began craving butter.

The thought of the rich, creamy taste made her mouth water, and subconsciously, she wanted to eat some. However, she immediately stopped herself when she remembered how dangerous milk products were for her.

’No. I cannot eat it.’

Even though she now had the temporal storage, she was carrying another child, and that made her even more cautious. Silas had already warned her repeatedly to be careful and avoid consuming anything that contained milk, even if the milk was hidden among other ingredients.

Just as she was thinking about it, Jade walked over and sat across from her.

His expression was grim, and his fingers began rhythmically tapping against the table.

The moment Ivy noticed the movement, she immediately became alert.

This was one of the special signals that she, Silas, and Jade had agreed upon before boarding the spaceship.

In fact, before they had entered the spaceship, the three of them had held a secret meeting to establish several specific signals they could use if they needed to communicate without alerting Nanami.

For example, they would repeatedly thump their fingers against a table or any other nearby surface whenever they wanted to warn the others that danger was approaching.

If they wanted the other person to remain silent, they would snap their fingers once.

If they needed the other person to help them, they would cough twice.

These were the secret signals they had established, so the moment Ivy saw Jade tapping his fingers, her entire body became tense.

She immediately began looking around.

Her expression became serious, and her senses sharpened.

Sure enough, the very next second, the entire spaceship violently lurched.

A deafening metallic crash echoed through the cabin as the spaceship slammed into one of the asteroids. Before anyone could recover, another impact followed, then another.

The entire ship shook violently.

Ivy was thrown sideways, but Jade reacted instantly. He caught her and cushioned her fall against his body, preventing her from crashing onto the hard floor.

Ivy subconsciously wrapped both arms around her stomach, protecting her belly as she looked around warily.

Bella and Alana immediately rushed toward her as well.

"Are you all right?"

They were clearly terrified that something might happen to her.

Without wasting any time, they brought Ivy toward one of the corners and formed a protective circle around her.

Furniture and loose objects were being thrown around by the violent shaking, repeatedly striking the three of them, but they stubbornly refused to move away from Ivy.

Ivy felt slightly shaken.

She briefly considered entering her temporal storage, but then remembered the warning it had given her.

If she entered the temporal storage while the spaceship was traveling through space, she might not return to the same location. When she eventually came out, she could potentially appear outside the spaceship, exposed to the vacuum of space.

That possibility made her hesitate. ’I cannot risk that.’

Just as she was wondering where Silas was, he quickly rushed toward her and pulled her into his arms.

"Ivy!"

He protectively created a barrier around them, and soon, everyone nearby was enclosed within the protective wall.

Ivy immediately looked at him. "Where is Nanami?"

Silas frowned slightly before answering in a calm voice.

"He is inside the control room to investigate what is causing this anomaly. He is checking whether he can find anything that might be responsible."

Ivy, Silas, and Jade exchanged a meaningful glance.

They already knew what this meant. Nanami was finally making his move.

The three of them remained tense, silently wondering whether they would suddenly be attacked from different directions.

’Is someone going to ambush us now?’

They were already thinking about what countermeasure they should use when the entire spaceship suddenly shut down.

Every light went out. The engines fell silent.

The faint hum that had accompanied them throughout the journey disappeared completely, leaving behind an eerie silence.

It was as if someone had simply cut off the spaceship’s entire energy supply. Everyone’s expression darkened. Then, slowly, the sound of footsteps echoed through the darkened cabin.

Everyone immediately turned toward the sound.

Nanami eventually appeared, walking toward them through the dim corridor.

Silas quickly suppressed the tension in his expression and pretended to remain calm.

"What is happening?"

Nanami answered in a slightly stressed voice.

"Everything is going wrong. The spaceship is malfunctioning, and there is most likely some kind of technical problem."

He paused before continuing.

"How about this? I am planning to wait here and see whether we receive any requests or assistance. Alternatively, do you think we should request help from Planet Astra?"

Jade immediately frowned.

"If we choose either option, we will essentially be handing our lives over to strangers. Do you not think that is dangerous? If we wait here and strangers suddenly appear to help us, that alone would make them suspicious. Not to mention that people from Planet Astra have no reason to go out of their way to help us. Both options could easily be traps."

Nanami chuckled softly. "It is not as though I have no connections. I have people I know there as well."

Hearing those words, a brief silence fell over the group. Silas finally spoke. "All right, then call them over."

Nanami’s expression remained calm.

"If I call them, it will still take at least ten days for them to reach us. A lot can happen within ten days."

He paused and glanced at the others.

"So are you okay with that?"

Silas and Jade frowned simultaneously.

They could already sense that some kind of invisible trap was being laid out in front of them, but neither of them could identify exactly where the danger was hiding.

After a moment, Silas finally nodded. "All right."

However, his mind was already racing.

’If someone suddenly enters the spaceship, I need to be prepared for every possibility.’

He began silently considering every countermeasure he could use, while Jade was doing the same.

An entire day passed in the same tense atmosphere.

Nanami eventually returned to their side and behaved as though nothing unusual had happened.

He acted friendly, repeatedly talking to them about random topics and even assuring them that everything would eventually turn out fine.

However, none of them believed his behaviour was genuine.

Ivy quietly watched him from the corner of her eye.

’He is definitely hiding something.’
