Chapter 2080: Chapter 2077: Mission Rewards
Mu Yun nodded very confidently, causing Shangguan Ao Yue and her sisters to be momentarily speechless; Lin Tian and his group did not belong to the Netherworld, something they did not expect.
Silence lingered in the room for a while, creating an awkward atmosphere. Lin Tian was about to say something to break the tension when Miss Hongyue spoke firmly: "I don’t mind, I can wait."
Lin Tian chuckled helplessly to himself. He understood what Miss Hongyue meant; people would eventually die and enter the Netherworld. But what she didn’t know was that, barring accidents, Lin Tian was immortal, and even in death, the Netherworld would not have jurisdiction over him.
But this matter couldn’t be explained openly to her. Lin Tian wasn’t someone to vacillate, and now that things had been said to this point, continuing the conversation would only complicate matters further.
He changed the topic and said, "Miss Hongyue, take care of your health first; we’ll discuss the rest later. By the way, how’s He Shan doing? Has he started forging the equipment?"
Miss Hongyue was an assassin, decisive in her actions. Having made up her mind, she did not pursue the matter further and replied, "After City Lord Jia obtained the Blood Spirit Stone, he instructed He Shan to start forging. He is probably at the forge now."
"The forge is in the back alley of the City Lord’s Mansion," Miss Hongyue added, her face not showing any signs of disappointment.
"In that case, I’ll go check it out, say goodbye before I leave." Lin Tian bowed to the three sisters and turned to leave.
Upon hearing the words "say goodbye," the sisters seemed momentarily lost before coming back to their senses, by which time Lin Tian and his companions had already left the room.
Shangguan Ao Yue said calmly, "Don’t worry, Lin Tian is no ordinary person. Since he made it to the Netherworld once, he will surely come again."
By this time, Lin Tian had already left the Hunter Soul Inn, following the route Miss Hongyue had pointed out, heading towards the back alley of the City Lord’s Mansion. The journey wasn’t far; after passing through three alleys, Lin Tian heard the clinking of iron, accompanied by a faint hint of scorching air in the atmosphere.
Following the source of the sound, Lin Tian eventually stopped in front of a large door, above which hung a plaque reading "Forge."
The door to the forge was wide open, revealing a bustling scene inside. People were coming and going, some carrying materials, others moving weaponry and armor, some holding water; the shouts filled the place, creating a lively atmosphere.
Guards were stationed at the door, and upon seeing Lin Tian and his companions approach, they became wary.
"Forge is a heavily guarded place, trespassers will be killed without mercy," Xiao Manxuan read the sign nearby out loud.
Lin Tian knew that the guarding strength of the entire forge was certainly not limited to the ghost soldiers at the entrance; both overt and covert guards, as well as those robust men moving things, could certainly be fighters if they took up arms.
Although Lin Tian was well-known in Blood Sea City, the guards here evidently hadn’t seen him before. Lin Tian was contemplating how to explain his purpose when several people hurriedly walked out from inside.
The leading man was extraordinary-looking, none other than He Shan, who was talking to someone beside him, giving instructions.
"General He..." Lin Tian called out.
He Shan looked up, seeing Lin Tian, and was immediately overjoyed. He rushed over to embrace Lin Tian and gave him a strong pat on the back. "Brother Lin, you finally returned; I was truly worried you had fallen in the Blood Sea."
The surrounding guards and He Shan’s men heard it was Lin Tian, and immediately grew respectful, clearly very familiar with the hero’s deeds in the stronghold.
Lin Tian also gave He Shan a strong pat, and laughed, "Taking my life is not so easy; look, I’ve come back."
He Shan released Lin Tian, stepped back a couple of steps, carefully examined Lin Tian up and down to ensure he was intact, and finally felt at ease.
"A-Dai and the others told me that you ventured into the Blood Sea again; I really worried for all of you. But Brother Lin is truly extraordinary; even the Blood Sea couldn’t hold you." He Shan was deeply impressed, even shocked.
"By the way, getting the Blood Spirit Stone owes the greatest credit to Brother Lin; we’ve already started forging, and I’m preparing to send the first batch of equipment to the stronghold," He Shan praised again.
"I came to check on the forging progress and to say goodbye; we plan to return to Fengdu City," Lin Tian said frankly.
"So soon?" He Shan paused, then instructed his men, "Send the equipment first, I’ll follow later." Several of his men obeyed and left.
Driven by curiosity, Lin Tian asked, "Does General He have some matter at hand?"
"A good thing, follow me." He Shan replied mysteriously, then headed back into the forge.
Lin Tian exchanged glances with the women, reluctantly following him. Inside the forge, the heat was felt even more strongly, and the sound of iron forging was louder.
Along the way, Lin Tian saw no fewer than ten forging furnaces, their flames intense, clearly not ordinary fire. Qingshuang Pavilion could harness Earth Fire to forge weapons; naturally, the Netherworld’s flames for forging would be no less.
He Shan kept walking until he reached a row of houses, stopped, and pushed open one room, entering. Lin Tian followed in, realizing it was a storeroom filled with weapons and equipment.
The weapons and equipment were brand new, should be freshly produced, and not yet formally issued to soldiers.
He Shan walked to a table, where lay a set of black armor, beside it a pair of dark red daggers, and a sharp longsword, clearly forming a complete set of equipment.
However, this set of weapons and equipment looked slightly worn and was different in style from the new equipment around it.
"What is this?" Lin Tian asked curiously.
He Shan laughed and said, "This is one of the rewards from the Blood Spirit Stone mission."
"Seems decent, especially the daggers and sword, considered treasures; if this is just one part of the reward, it shows the total reward for the Blood Spirit Stone mission is indeed substantial." Lin Tian said in astonishment, no wonder those Soul Hunters were willing to take risks.
"Without shedding some blood, how could we move those Soul Hunters? Technically, these rewards belong to the Proud Moon Team, but they said that you should choose first, as you contributed the most. If you’re not interested in weapons and equipment, we can look at other things, like a considerable sum of money." He Shan said earnestly.
Lin Tian shook his head and said, "Forget the money, I don’t need it." Zhang Lingyu and Xiao Manxuan laughed hearing this; money in the Netherworld truly is unnecessary.
"Ziyue and Miss Hongyue agreed that you must accept something, at least one item, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to stand in the Soul Hunter circle in the future." He Shan seemed to read Lin Tian’s thoughts and quickly reminded him.
What, rushing to give away treasures? Lin Tian was a bit speechless; he hadn’t intended to accept anything, but now that it was said so, refusing seemed impossible.
Thinking it over, Lin Tian decided to pick something portable and light, to shut up He Shan and let him release them.
The armor was evidently unsuitable; Lin Tian shook his head and eliminated it first. Seeing Lin Tian examining the equipment, He Shan leaned over and whispered, "Brother, let me tip you, this longsword is a good piece."
Lin Tian turned to look at the longsword, examined it for a moment, and involuntarily shook his head, preparing to shift his gaze.
Wait, what’s this? As Lin Tian’s gaze shifted, he noticed something held under the sword hilt in his peripheral vision.
